Job Summary

We are looking for a Lighting Design Engineer / CAD Engineer with experience in automotive lighting or plastic component design. The role involves designing and developing automotive lighting components such as headlamps and rear lamps using CATIA V5, from concept through production, while ensuring design feasibility, manufacturability, quality, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA V5 in line with engineering standards.
- Design and develop automotive lighting components such as headlamps, rear lamps, and related plastic components from concept to production.
- Ensure design feasibility considering plastic injection molding, tooling, manufacturing, and assembly constraints.
- Create and refine design proposals, sketches, and surface data, including integration with CAS/Class-A surfaces.
- Design critical features such as mounting clips, ribs, locators, brackets, bosses, and harness routing provisions.
- Perform basic design calculations, tolerance analysis, and design validation related to cost, weight, performance, and manufacturability.
- Conduct and participate in Design Reviews (DRs) and ensure timely closure of action items.
- Manage CAD data, revisions, and engineering releases through PDM/PLM systems.
- Coordinate with styling, optics, simulation, tooling, manufacturing, quality, and project teams.
- Interface with customers and internal stakeholders for technical discussions, design clarifications, and project updates.




- Support project execution and ensure adherence to project milestones, quality standards, and delivery timelines.

Mandatory Skills
- 35 years of experience in automotive design/development.
- Strong hands-on experience in CATIA V5, including:

- Part Design

- Assembly Design

- Drafting

- Surfacing
- Strong knowledge of plastic component design and injection molding principles.
- Understanding of tooling feasibility and manufacturability constraints.
- Valuable knowledge of GD&T; and engineering drawing interpretation.
- Experience in tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Understanding of automotive product development processes.

Preferred Experience
- Automotive Lighting experience is highly preferred/mandatory.
- Experience in designing headlamps, rear lamps, tail lamps, or other automotive lighting components.
- Exposure to LED integration and basic optics concepts.
- Experience working with CAS/Class-A surface data and styling integration.
- Experience with Teamcenter, ENOVIA, or other PLM/PDM tools.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, DFM, DFA, and APQP/product development processes.
- Exposure to simulation and validation activities.
- Experience working with OEM/Tier-1 automotive customers.

Candidate Profile Candidates with automotive lighting design experience are preferred. However, candidates with strong CATIA V5 Surfacing + plastic component design/injection molding experience can also be considered, provided they have relevant automotive product development experience.
