– DM – Electrical Engineer – Pellet Plant Projects
Designation: Deputy Manager – Electrical
Department: Pellet Plant Projects
Location: Angul, Odisha
Function: Electrical Projects
Role Purpose
To lead and execute electrical project activities for Pellet Plant expansion, modification, and upgradation projects. The role is responsible for planning, engineering coordination, procurement support, installation, commissioning, and timely execution of electrical systems while ensuring compliance with technical, quality, safety, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Lead electrical project execution activities for Pellet Plant projects, ensuring completion within approved scope, cost, quality, and timelines.
- Prepare and monitor detailed project execution plans, schedules, resource requirements, and milestones.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Mechanical, Civil, C&I;, Operations, and external agencies for seamless project execution.
- Monitor site progress against approved project schedules and take corrective actions for delays.
- Review project requirements, drawings, BOQs, specifications, and technical documents.
Electrical Engineering & Installation
- Supervise installation and commissioning of:
- HT/LT substations and switchgear
- Transformers
- MCCs/PCCs
- HT/LT motors and drives
- VFDs and soft starters
- Power and control cables
- Cable trays and cable routing systems
- Earthing and lightning protection systems
- Plant lighting and utility electrical systems
- Electrical panels and distribution systems
- Review electrical single-line diagrams, load schedules, cable schedules, equipment layouts, and electrical drawings.
- Ensure electrical installations are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, applicable standards, and valuable engineering practices.
- Coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.
Contractor & Vendor Management
- Manage electrical contractors and vendors at project sites.
- Monitor contractor manpower, productivity, quality, and adherence to project schedules.
- Review contractor work methodologies and ensure compliance with approved specifications.
- Verify measurements, quantities, work completion, and support certification of contractor bills.
- Coordinate with vendors for technical clarifications, inspections, testing, and commissioning.
Quality & Technical Compliance
- Ensure adherence to approved Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), specifications, and electrical standards.
- Coordinate inspection and testing of electrical equipment and installations.
- Ensure proper documentation of testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Identify technical deviations and ensure timely corrective action.
Project Cost & Material Management
- Monitor project quantities, material consumption, and electrical equipment requirements.
- Support preparation/review of BOQs, estimates, material requisitions, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Stores to ensure timely availability of electrical equipment and materials.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization and value engineering.
Safety
- Ensure strict compliance with plant and project electrical safety standards, PTW, LOTO, work-at-height, lifting, and other safety requirements.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and ensure closure of observations.
- Ensure safe execution of electrical installation, testing, energization, and commissioning activities.
- Promote a strong safety culture among contractors and project teams.
Commissioning & Handover
- Lead pre-commissioning, testing, energization,
and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Coordinate with Operations and Maintenance teams for smooth takeover of completed systems.
- Ensure completion of punch points, as-built drawings, test reports, O&M; manuals, and other handover documentation.
- Support stabilization of newly commissioned electrical systems.
Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering with substantial relevant project experience may be considered.
Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in electrical project execution in Pellet Plants, Steel Plants, Iron & Steel projects, Power Plants, or other heavy process industries.
- Strong experience in industrial electrical installation, project execution, testing, and commissioning.
- Experience in Pellet Plant projects will be strongly preferred.
