Key responsibilities
- Architecture and strategy
- Define the enterprise observability and AIOps architecture: instrumentation, telemetry pipelines, data storage, analytics, and visualization across infrastructure, applications, and business services.
- Develop a roadmap for automation and AIOps adoption, including tooling choices, integration patterns, and operating model (NOC/SOC/SRE/DevOps).
- Solution design and integration
- Lead solution design for monitoring, logging, tracing, event management, runbook automation, and orchestration across data center, cloud, network, and EUC towers.
- Evaluate and integrate tools such as APM/observability platforms (Dynatrace, New Relic, AppDynamics, ELK, Grafana,Site24x7), ITSM/ITOM (ServiceNow,ManageEngine), automation/RPA/orchestration platforms, and AIOps engines.
- AIOps and AI/ML?driven operations
- Design and implement AIOps use cases: anomaly detection, noise reduction, event correlation, root?cause analysis, capacity forecasting, and automated remediation.
- Architect and optimize agentic / Gen?AI solutions (e.g., autonomous operations assistants, runbook copilots) integrated with observability and ITSM platforms.
- Automation and orchestration
- Define automation architecture for IT operations: task automation, workflow orchestration, infra?as?code, CI/CD integrations, and policy?driven remedial actions.
- Work with infra and app teams to identify high?value automation candidates (recurring incidents, manual runbooks) and design robust, secure automation solutions
- Standards, patterns, and governance
- Establish standards for telemetry (what to instrument, log, trace), alerting thresholds,
SLO/SLA monitoring, and dashboard design to avoid alert fatigue and ensure actionable insights.
- Create reusable reference architectures and patterns for observability, automation, and AIOps in different environments (on?prem, multi?cloud, Kubernetes, serverless).
- Presales, stakeholder engagement, and enablement
- Support RFP/RFI responses and large transformation deals by crafting differentiated AIOps/observability/automation solutions and effort/cost estimates.
- Present solutions to customers and internal stakeholders, lead technical workshops, and provide architectural guidance to delivery teams.
- Operational excellence and continuous improvement
- Work with SRE/DevOps/Ops teams to use observability and AIOps insights to reduce MTTR, improve reliability, and lower operational toil.
- Define and track KPIs for observability and automation (alert noise reduction, auto?resolved incidents, coverage of telemetry, adoption of automated workflows).
Required skills and experience
- Experience
- Typically 8–12+ years in IT operations, infrastructure, monitoring, DevOps or related fields, with 3–5+ years in architecture/solution design focused on observability/automation/AIOps.
- Technical competencies
- Solid hands?on experience with monitoring and observability tools (APM, metrics, logs, traces: e.g., Dynatrace, New Relic, AppDynamics, Prometheus, ELK/Opensearch, Grafana, site 24x7).
- Solid understanding of event management and AIOps platforms (e.g., OpsRamp, BMC, Splunk, ServiceNow ITOM, or equivalent) and how they integrate with ITSM and infra tools.
- Knowledge of automation/orchestration technologies: runbook automation, scripting (Python/PowerShell), workflow engines, RPA where relevant, and infra?as?code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
- Consulting and Solution Design for customer requirements.
- Architecture and design skills
- Ability to design scalable, resilient, and cost?effective telemetry and automation architectures, including data pipelines, storage tiers, and integration patterns.
- Experience documenting architectures with diagrams, reference models, and standards, and governing their adoption across teams.
- Soft skills
- Strong communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to both engineers and business stakeholders.
- Presales and stakeholder management capability: leading workshops, defending solutions, and aligning proposals with business outcomes.
Education and certifications (indicative)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related discipline; a relevant Master’s is a plus.
- Helpful certifications:
- Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP architect or ops),
- ITIL/ITSM, SRE/DevOps focused certs,
- Vendor?specific observability/AIOps tool certifications (Dynatrace, Splunk, ServiceNow ITOM, etc.)
