Role Purpose

To execute and coordinate mechanical project activities for the Pellet Plant, with specific focus on structural fabrication and erection works. The role is responsible for ensuring safe, timely, and quality-compliant execution of structural and associated mechanical works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, project schedules, and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution

- Execute and monitor structural fabrication and erection activities for Pellet Plant projects.

- Coordinate site activities related to fabrication, erection, alignment, welding, bolting, and installation of structural components.

- Ensure project execution as per approved drawings, specifications, BOQs, method statements, and project schedules.

- Plan daily and weekly activities in coordination with contractors and project teams.

- Monitor project progress against planned schedules and ensure timely completion of assigned milestones.

- Coordinate with Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Procurement, and Operations teams for smooth project execution.

Structural Fabrication & Erection

- Supervise fabrication of structural components such as columns, beams, platforms, galleries, chutes, supports, ladders, handrails, and equipment-support structures.

- Ensure proper execution of cutting, fit-up, welding, drilling, bolting, and assembly activities.

- Monitor structural erection, alignment, leveling, and dimensional accuracy.

- Verify fabrication and erection against approved structural drawings and technical specifications.

- Ensure proper handling, lifting, shifting, and positioning of structural components.





- Coordinate crane and lifting requirements for erection activities.

Quality Control

- Ensure fabrication and erection activities meet defined quality standards and project specifications.

- Coordinate inspection of welds, joints, dimensions, alignment, and structural integrity.

- Ensure compliance with approved ITP, QAP, WPS/PQR, and applicable fabrication standards.

- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspection, testing, and documentation.

- Identify deviations and ensure timely corrective actions.

Contractor & Resource Management

- Monitor contractor performance, manpower deployment, productivity, and work quality.

- Ensure availability and optimum utilization of manpower, equipment, tools, cranes, welding machines, and other resources.

- Verify contractor measurements and support certification of work quantities.

- Coordinate with contractors for resolution of execution-related issues.

Safety

- Ensure strict compliance with plant and project safety requirements.

- Ensure implementation of PTW, LOTO, work-at-height, lifting & rigging, hot work, and confined-space safety requirements.

- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure closure of unsafe conditions and observations.

- Ensure proper PPE usage and safe work practices by employees and contractors.

Project Monitoring & Documentation

- Prepare daily/weekly progress reports and monitor project milestones.

- Maintain project documentation including drawings, BOQs, inspection records, measurement sheets, and work completion records.





- Monitor material consumption and identify deviations from approved quantities.

- Support preparation and review of BOQ, quantity estimation, BBS, and variation statements where applicable.

- Support project cost monitoring and ensure execution within approved budgets.

Educational Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with substantial relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

- 6–10 years of experience in mechanical projects, preferably in Pellet Plants, Steel Plants, Iron Ore Beneficiation Plants, or heavy process industries.

- Strong hands-on experience in structural fabrication and erection is essential.

- Experience in large-scale industrial project execution and contractor management is preferred.
