Linux/VMware Engineer L2/L3

Role Summary
We are looking for a skilled Linux/VMware Engineer (L2/L3) to manage and support enterprise Linux and virtualization infrastructure. The role will be responsible for Linux administration, VMware operations, patching, high availability, storage, and disaster recovery activities across a large-scale virtualized environment.
The candidate should be flexible to support extended working hours and planned maintenance/change windows based on business and infrastructure requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day administration, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of RHEL Linux servers.
- Manage RHEL 6.x/7.x/8.x environments, including OS patching, upgrades and security updates.
- Administer VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter environments.
- Manage VMware HA, DRS, vMotion and Storage vMotion operations.
- Perform VM provisioning, cloning, snapshot management and template deployment.
- Manage VMware clusters and monitor resource utilization, performance and capacity.
- Support SRM / Disaster Recovery operations, including failover and failback activities.
- Participate in periodic DR drills and failover testing.
- Manage storage/datastores and monitor capacity and performance.
- Coordinate firmware and BIOS upgrades and monitor physical server hardware health.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Ansible and/or Python.
- Troubleshoot and resolve L2/L3 Linux and VMware infrastructure incidents within defined SLAs.
- Perform root cause analysis and contribute to problem management.
- Execute planned changes within strict maintenance and change windows.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and shift handover records.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, network and application teams for issue resolution.
- Provide effective handovers and ensure continuity of operations across shifts and locations.
Mandatory Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in RHEL/Linux administration and patch management.
- Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter.
- Good working knowledge of VMware HA, DRS and vMotion.
- Experience in Linux troubleshooting and production support.
- Experience with storage, datastores and capacity management.
- Hands-on exposure to Disaster Recovery, SRM, failover and failback.
- Knowledge of Bash scripting, Ansible and/or Python.
- Experience supporting L2/L3 infrastructure environments.
