Role Objective To lead the library and academic information systems function at SOIL School of Business Design, ensuring a robust, AICTE-compliant learning resource ecosystem that supports academic excellence, research, and program delivery. The role will be responsible for managing physical and digital library resources, academic databases, learning materials and library management software like Koha, Libsys, SOUL etc. while providing seamless support to students, faculty, and administrative stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall management and development of the SOBD Library, ensuring compliance with AICTE norms, accreditation requirements, and institutional standards while creating an effective learning and research environment for students and faculty.
- Plan, budget, procure, and manage physical and digital learning resources including books, e-books, journals, databases, HBSP content, and other academic materials to support curriculum delivery and research needs.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with publishers, database providers, and vendors, including contract negotiations, subscription management, renewals, and resource optimization.
- Oversee library automation and information management processes including cataloguing, classification, accessioning, inventory control, metadata management, digital library administration, and maintenance of accurate library records.
- Partner with faculty and academic teams to curate, organize, and distribute course materials, cases, articles, book chapters, and other learning resources required across programs.
- Serve as a research and academic support partner to faculty, staff, and students by facilitating access to relevant information resources, databases, reference materials, and research tools.
- Provide ongoing training, guidance,
and user support to students, faculty, and staff on library resources, digital platforms, and academic systems while ensuring prompt resolution of operational issues.
- Drive continuous improvement in library services, academic resource management, and information systems by leveraging technology, analytics, user feedback, and best practices to enhance the overall learning experience.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of library management practices and academic resource administration.
- Understanding of AICTE library norms and accreditation requirements.
- Experience with Library Management Systems (LMS) and digital library platforms.
- Strong knowledge of cataloguing, classification, accessioning, and metadata standards.
- Proficiency in academic databases, e-resources, and research support services.
- Strong planning, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and service orientation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced academic environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace.
Requirements
- Masters degree in library or equivalent qualification.
- 5-10 years of experience in academic library management, preferably in higher education institutions.
- Experience working with AICTE-approved institutions is preferred.
- Hands-on experience managing digital libraries, academic databases, and library automation systems.
- Experience supporting faculty research and academic program delivery.
