Lead Utility Tariff Analyst

Location: Pune, India (Hybrid)

Job Summary UST is looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior / Lead Utility Tariff Analyst to join our Energy & Utilities team. The Utility Tariff Analyst will be responsible for creating, testing, maintaining, and enhancing accurate utility tariff calculation models that support billing and analytical solutions for utility customers.

These tariff models form the core of customer-facing products and must be developed with a high degree of precision and accuracy. The role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of database concepts, and a passion for data-driven problem-solving. The ideal candidate will also drive team deliverables, mentor team members, lead sprint activities, and implement automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Tariff Modeling & Analysis

- Analyze complex utility tariffs, rates, and energy programs and convert them into accurate calculation models.
- Maintain and update tariff models based on business and regulatory changes.
- Ensure high levels of accuracy and consistency in tariff-based calculations used for billing and analytics.

Delivery Management
- Own end-to-end delivery of tariff modeling engagements and ensure timely completion of assigned deliverables.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with delivery teams and stakeholders.
- Support delivery teams in validating client data used for tariff modeling.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with product, engineering, operations,



and business teams to resolve tariff logic issues within internal tools and customer-facing products.
- Address discrepancies between shadow bills and actual utility bills and drive resolution.

Leadership & Agile Execution
- Lead sprint ceremonies and support Agile Scrum practices.
- Mentor team members and promote a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Ensure team alignment toward sprint commitments and delivery goals.
- Share knowledge and best practices to develop analysts within the team.

Quality Assurance & Governance
- Ensure comprehensive validation and regression testing of tariff models and products.
- Adhere to change management processes before releasing updates to higher environments.
- Maintain accuracy, compliance, and quality standards throughout the modeling lifecycle.

Automation & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.
- Design and implement solutions that reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and enhance productivity.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across delivery and operational processes.

Documentation
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for requirements, tariff logic, enhancements, and workflows.
- Ensure process knowledge and project documentation remain current and accessible.

Required Qualifications (Must Have)

- 6-8 years of overall industry experience.
- Proven experience leading and mentoring teams.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering,



Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or other analytical disciplines.
- Robust proficiency in Advanced Microsoft Excel, including:

- Pivot Tables

- Advanced formulas

- Data analysis functions
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts.
- Hands-on experience writing and optimizing SQL queries.
- Experience developing solutions using Python and/or Shell Scripting.
- Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated innovation and continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Good To Have)

- Experience in the Energy & Utilities industry.
- Understanding of utility tariffs related to electricity, gas, or other regulated energy sectors.

- Experience working with

- Passion for data analysis and deriving insights from large datasets.
- Experience working in Agile Scrum environments.
- Exposure to utility billing, energy analytics, or energy management platforms.
