Open Hearing is Looking for:**** About OpenHearing OpenHearing is building the operating system for modern hearing care practices. Starting with conversational intelligence, the platform captures and understands what happens across the patient journey — helping hearing care teams cut down on documentation time, coach providers, spot missed opportunities, and make better decisions.

The platform is already live across 700+ clinics, has processed 200,000+ appointments, and analyzed over 6 million minutes of patient conversations.

The Opportunity As one of the first engineers on the team, you'll work across conversational intelligence, OMS (clinic operations), and automation layers — spanning frontend, backend, and AI agent development depending on where the need is greatest. This is a foundational hire: you will directly help shape both the engineering and company culture.

What You'll Do Autonomously ship robust, well-structured, scalable code across the stack

Design, build, and maintain high-performance systems with security, alerting, and monitoring built in from the start

Own system stability and reliability — participate in code/design reviews and rotate through on-call

Communicate async and clearly with a distributed team split across US and India time zones

Contribute to whichever of OMS,



conversational intelligence, or automation tooling the roadmap needs most at the time

Tech Stack Backend: Java, Spring Boot/ Golang/ Python

Frontend: React or React Native (mobile app)

Infra: AWS/Azure/GCP

What We're Looking For Strong fundamentals — can explain the why behind the database, language, or approach chosen, not just that it worked

Genuine ownership — proactively spots and fixes what nobody assigned; doesn't wait to be told

Comfortable navigating ambiguity — can gather context, form a recommendation, and explain what was rejected and why

Sharp, proactive communicator — defaults to writing things down early and clearly given the cross-timezone setup

Can code and review code without relying on AI to do the thinking

Product-company background strongly preferred; comfortable in an early-stage, high-ownership environment

Round 3: coding round, no AI, includes code review without AI.
