Position
Associate Manager- EHS
Location:
Kundiam - Goa
The EHS Associate Manager will support and help lead all environmental, health and safety activities at the Kundaim-Goa plant to ensure legal compliance, protect employee health and safety, minimize environmental impact, and embed a strong EHS culture. The role is hands-on and requires operational involvement, audits, training, incident investigation and liaison with statutory authorities (e.g., Goa State Pollution Control Board, Fire Department, Factory Inspectorate)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation and maintenance of the site EHS management system (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 aligned).
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian laws and regulations (Factories Act, Environment Protection Act, Air & Water Acts, Hazardous Waste Management Rules, CPCB/GSPCB consents, etc.) and with company EHS policies.
- Conduct and coordinate regular EHS inspections, risk assessments (JSA/JHA), behavioural safety observations and workplace audits; drive corrective actions to closure.
- Lead incident/near-miss investigations, root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions; maintain incident records and trend analysis.
- Plan and deliver EHS training (induction, role-based, contractor safety, emergency response, PPE use, fire drills); maintain training records and measure effectiveness.
- Manage permit-to-work systems, confined space entry,
hot work permits and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Oversee hazardous materials management: MSDS, storage, labelling, spill prevention & response, chemical inventory controls, and protected handling procedures.
- Monitor environmental performance: emissions, effluent, noise, waste generation; coordinate sampling, reporting and ensure ETP/STP operations and discharge limits are met.
- Supervise contractor safety and ensure compliance by vendors and service providers.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns, clearance renewals and maintain liaison with GSPCB and other regulatory bodies.
- Support budgeting, procurement and implementation of EHS controls and PPE; identify cost-effective risk-reduction measures.
- Drive continuous improvement: identify EHS KPIs, set targets, and implement projects to reduce incidents, waste and environmental footprint.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Bachelors degree in safety engineering/environmental engineering
Or BE in Chemical/Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with ADIS
Work Experience: Minimum 5-10 years experience in EHS
Must hold authorization from Goa Factory Inspectorate as authorized Safety Officer.
Strong working knowledge of Indian EHS laws and statutory requirements, and experience dealing with local regulators (GSPCB, Factory Inspectorate, Fire Services)
Fluency in English, Hindi, Konkani
