?Role: IBM POC – WebFOCUS to Cognos Migration Consultant

?Location: Charlotte, NC (Onsite)(Need Local to North Carolina, NC Only)

We are looking for a strong WebFOCUS to IBM Cognos Migration Consultant to support an IBM POC focused on migrating existing WebFOCUS reporting and analytics solutions to Cognos.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with WebFOCUS and IBM Cognos, migration/conversion projects, reporting development, and excellent communication skills. The consultant will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand existing WebFOCUS reports and determine the appropriate Cognos migration approach.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze existing WebFOCUS reports, dashboards, procedures, and data models.

Design and implement migration/conversion from WebFOCUS to IBM Cognos.

Develop reports, dashboards, queries, and metadata models in IBM Cognos Analytics.

Assess WebFOCUS functionality and map equivalent capabilities in Cognos.

Identify migration gaps, technical challenges, and opportunities for optimization.

Perform report validation, reconciliation, testing, and performance tuning.

Work with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements and clarify reporting needs.

Document migration approach, mappings, findings, and technical recommendations.

Support the POC/prototype and provide recommendations for broader migration.

Communicate effectively with IBM/client stakeholders and present technical findings clearly.

Required Skills

Strong hands-on experience with WebFOCUS.





Strong hands-on experience with IBM Cognos Analytics.

Proven experience with WebFOCUS to Cognos migration/conversion or similar BI platform migration projects.

Strong knowledge of BI reporting, dashboards, metadata, and data modeling.

Solid SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.

Experience with report conversion, validation, reconciliation, and testing.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently in a remote environment and interact directly with client/IBM stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Cognos Framework Manager / Cognos Analytics modeling.

Experience with WebFOCUS procedures, reports, and reporting components.

Knowledge of ETL/data integration concepts.

Experience with large-scale BI modernization or migration initiatives.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Candidate Expectations

Immediate / Early Start preferred

Must have excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills

Strong preference for candidates with direct WebFOCUS → Cognos migration experience

Candidates should be comfortable participating in a POC and client-facing discussions.

Ideal Candidate: A senior BI consultant who can independently assess WebFOCUS assets, determine Cognos equivalents, execute the migration POC, validate results, and communicate recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
