Role Summary
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated PYP Facilitator to design and deliver inquiry-based learning experiences for primary-year students, in keeping with the philosophy and framework of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). The ideal candidate is a reflective practitioner who champions student agency, conceptual understanding, and transdisciplinary learning, and who can create a nurturing, stimulating classroom setting aligned with the IB learner profile and attitudes. Candidates with an IB PYP certification are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess units of inquiry through the transdisciplinary themes of the PYP framework.
- Facilitate student-led inquiry, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and independent learning.
- Develop and implement engaging, differentiated lesson plans that address diverse learning needs and styles.
- Integrate the IB learner profile attributes and approaches to learning (ATLs) into daily classroom practice.
- Collaborate with fellow facilitators, the PYP Coordinator, and specialist teachers to plan and refine units of inquiry.
- Use formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor and report on student progress, providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate student records,
portfolios, and documentation as per IB and school requirements.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture that reflects the IB mission and values.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents regarding student progress and well-being.
- Participate actively in professional development, PYP workshops, and school-wide curriculum planning and reflection sessions.
- Support and contribute to school events, exhibitions (including the PYP Exhibition), and co-curricular activities.
- Stay current with IB PYP updates, pedagogical best practices, and curriculum enhancements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Education or a relevant subject area; B.Ed. preferred.
- Prior experience teaching in a PYP or IB continuum school strongly preferred.
- Candidates holding an IB PYP certification are strongly preferred. Those without certification but with relevant experience will be considered, with a willingness to undergo IB-recognized training.
- Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience at the primary level, preferably in an inquiry-based or international curriculum setting.
- Sound understanding of the PYP framework, transdisciplinary themes, and the IB learner profile.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong facilitation and classroom management skills, with the ability to guide rather than direct learning.
- Excellent communication skills — with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Collaborative mindset and openness to team planning and peer feedback.
- Adaptability and comfort with reflective, evolving curriculum practices.
- Genuine passion for early childhood/primary education and child-centered pedagogy.
- Proficiency in using technology to support teaching, learning, and assessment.
