Role Overview

We are looking for a talented Shopify Technical Architect to join our expert team. This role is pivotal in designing and guiding the implementation of sophisticated, scalable, and robust eCommerce solutions on the Shopify Plus platform for a diverse client base.

The successful candidate will act as the technical authority, ensuring solutions meet business requirements, follow architectural best practices, and leverage the full potential of the Shopify ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

1. Solution Design & Architecture

- Lead the technical design and architecture of complex Shopify Plus solutions.
- Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications, solution blueprints, and integration strategies.
- Define scalable, maintainable, and high-performing architectures aligned with client objectives.

2. Shopify Expertise

- Serve as a subject matter expert across the Shopify ecosystem.
- Demonstrate deep expertise in Shopify Plus, Admin API, Storefront API, Checkout, Liquid, theme architecture, Shopify Flow, Shopify Functions, and the broader app ecosystem.
- Evaluate Shopify platform capabilities and recommend appropriate solutions.

3. Integration Strategy

- Design and oversee integrations between Shopify Plus and enterprise systems, including:
- ERP
- PIM
- CRM
- OMS
- WMS
- Payment gateways
- Marketing automation platforms

- Define integration patterns, data flows, APIs, error handling, security, and monitoring strategies.

4. Technical Leadership

- Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
- Mentor development teams and ensure adherence to coding standards, architectural principles, performance requirements, and security guidelines.
- Conduct technical reviews and help resolve complex engineering challenges.

5. Best Practices & Innovation

- Champion Shopify development and eCommerce architecture best practices.
- Stay current with Shopify platform releases, technologies, and emerging eCommerce trends.
- Identify opportunities to introduce innovative solutions and improve internal technical capabilities.

6. Client Collaboration

- Collaborate closely with clients, project managers, business analysts, and technical stakeholders.




- Lead technical discovery sessions and workshops.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Manage technical expectations and communicate architectural decisions effectively.

7. Technical Governance

- Establish and maintain technical architecture standards for client solutions.
- Ensure solutions remain scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with long-term business strategies.
- Review and evolve architecture as business and technology requirements change.

8. Documentation

- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including:
- Solution architecture documents
- Technical specifications
- Data models
- Integration diagrams
- API specifications
- Deployment and operational guides
- Architecture decision records

9. Pre-Sales Support

- Provide technical expertise during pre-sales engagements.
- Support solutioning, estimation, technical presentations, and proposal development.
- Participate in client discussions and technical demonstrations where required.

10. Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing

- Mentor developers and technical team members.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Develop training materials and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions to strengthen Shopify expertise across the team.

Required Skills & Experience

- Proven experience as a Technical Architect, Lead Developer, Senior Engineer, or similar role, with a strong focus on Shopify Plus.
- Deep hands-on experience with:
- Shopify Plus
- Shopify Admin API
- Shopify Storefront API
- Checkout
- Liquid
- Shopify themes and theme architecture
- Shopify app integrations

- Demonstrable experience architecting and delivering complex, large-scale eCommerce solutions on Shopify Plus.
- Significant experience designing and implementing integrations between Shopify and enterprise systems.
- Strong knowledge of:

- HTML5




- CSS3/SASS
- JavaScript (ES6+)
- JSON
- REST APIs
- GraphQL

- Familiarity with contemporary JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or similar technologies.
- Experience with modern frontend build tools and development workflows.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.
- Solid understanding of enterprise SDLC and CI/CD practices.
- Domain-level understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts, including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Understanding of SaaS product architecture and distributed systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking abilities.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate with senior business stakeholders and technical teams.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with Shopify Headless Commerce implementations.
- Hands-on experience with Hydrogen, Next.js, Nuxt.js, or similar frameworks.
- Experience developing custom Shopify Apps.
- Experience with Shopify Flow, Shopify Scripts, and Shopify Functions.
- Relevant Shopify certifications or demonstrable Shopify expertise.
- Contributions to the Shopify community, open-source projects, technical publications, or published Shopify apps.
- Experience working within a digital agency, systems integrator, or IT consultancy environment.
- Experience working directly with enterprise clients and leading technical discovery engagements.
