About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on and commercially driven professional to independently manage domestic transportation operations across India, including transporter development, freight negotiation, contracts, dispatch coordination, cost control, vendor performance and logistics MIS.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify, empanel and manage transporters across India.
- Build a reliable transporter network with backup vendors for key routes.
- Negotiate FTL/PTL/LTL freight rates and commercial terms.
- Negotiate transportation contracts, rate agreements and SLAs.
- Plan and coordinate vehicle placement and dispatches across India.
- Monitor shipments, delivery timelines and transportation issues.
- Control freight costs through route optimisation, consolidation and vehicle utilisation.
- Verify transporter bills, freight rates, detention, tolls, POD and additional charges.
- Monitor transporter KPIs such as on-time delivery, vehicle placement, POD compliance, damage and claims.
- Handle transportation-related damage, shortage and claims.
- Prepare logistics MIS covering dispatches, freight costs, savings, pending deliveries and transporter performance.
- Develop strategies for continuous freight cost reduction and operational improvement.

Mandatory Requirements

- 5–10 years of experience in domestic transportation/logistics.
- Strong hands-on experience in transporter management and freight negotiation.




- Experience handling transportation contracts/rate agreements/SLAs.
- Positive knowledge of Indian road transportation and FTL/PTL/LTL.
- Experience in freight billing, POD, LR/GR, detention and claims.
- Strong Excel and MIS skills.
- Experience managing multiple transporters and routes across India.

Preferred Industry Experience

Automotive, EV, Battery, Manufacturing, FMCG, Consumer Durables or Distribution. Experience with pan-India dealer/distributor transportation is an advantage.

- Managing transporters and fleet owners
- Handling transportation contracts
- Developing transporter networks
- Managing routes and achieving measurable freight savings

Candidates without commercial negotiation and transporter-management experience should not be considered for the Manager position.

Education

- Graduate in any discipline.
- MBA/PGDM in Logistics, Supply Chain or Operations is an advantage.
- Strong Excel skills are mandatory.
