Job Summary
The Shadow Teacher provides one-to-one support to a student who requires additional academic, behavioural, social,



or emotional assistance in a mainstream school environment. The role is to help the student participate independently in classroom activities while working closely with teachers, parents, and the school’s special education team.

Key Responsibilities
Provide individual support to the assigned student during classroom activities, transitions, and school routines.
Help the student understand and follow classroom instructions.
Support attention, concentration, communication, social interaction, and classroom participation.
Assist the student in completing academic tasks while encouraging independence rather than doing the work for them.
Support appropriate behaviour and help the student develop self-regulation and coping strategies.
Modify or simplify instructions and learning activities when advised by the class teacher or special educator.
Encourage positive peer interaction and inclusion in group activities.
