SENIOR ACCOUNTANT – JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Senior Accountant
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reporting To: Finance Manager / Management
Job PurposeThe Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, preparing financial reports, and supporting management with financial analysis and decision-making.
- Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Accounting & BookkeepingMaintain complete and accurate books of accounts.
- Handle daily accounting entries, journal entries, receipts, payments, and bank transactions.
- Ensure proper accounting of expenses, income, assets, and liabilities.
- Monitor and verify vouchers and supporting documents.
- 2. Bank & Cash ManagementPerform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow and fund requirements.
- Verify petty cash transactions and maintain proper records.
- Follow up on outstanding payments and receipts.
- 3. Accounts Payable & ReceivableManage vendor payments and outstanding balances.
- Prepare and monitor customer invoices and collections.
- Conduct vendor and customer ledger reconciliations.
- Follow up on pending payments and receivables.
- 4. GST & Statutory CompliancePrepare and verify GST-related data and returns.
- Reconcile purchase and sales data with GST records.
- Coordinate for timely filing of GST, TDS, and other statutory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits and compliance.
- 5. Payroll & Employee PaymentsVerify salary-related accounting entries.
- Process employee reimbursements, advances, and other payments.
- Reconcile employee advances and recoveries.

Financial ReportingPrepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Assist in preparation of Profit & Loss Account and Balance Sheet.
- Prepare MIS reports as required by management.
- Analyze expenses, revenue, and financial performance.
- 7. Audit & ComplianceCoordinate with internal and external auditors.
- Maintain proper supporting documents for all transactions.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and statutory requirements.
- Identify accounting discrepancies and take corrective action.
- 8. Team CoordinationGuide and supervise junior accountants and accounts assistants.
- Ensure timely completion of accounting activities.
- Coordinate with operations, HR, vendors, customers, and management regarding financial matters.
- Required Skills & QualificationsQualification: B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter or equivalent.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in Accounts and Finance.
- Solid knowledge of Tally Prime and MS Excel.
- Good knowledge of GST, TDS, bank reconciliation, and statutory compliance.
- Experience in preparing financial statements and MIS reports.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle confidential financial information.
- Good communication and team management skills.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Timely completion of monthly accounts.
- Accuracy of accounting records and reconciliations.
- Timely vendor payments and receivable follow-ups.
- Compliance with GST, TDS, and other statutory deadlines.
- Reduction in accounting errors and outstanding discrepancies.
- Timely submission of MIS and financial reports.
