A QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) for Readymix Concrete (RMC) plant outlines the management of raw material testing, concrete mix designs, batching precision, and compliance with standards like IS codes or ASTM.
Key Responsibilities
- Raw Material Testing: Inspect and test incoming materials including cement, fine aggregates (sand), coarse aggregates, water, and chemical admixtures for silt content, gradation, specific gravity, and moisture. [1, 2]
- Mix Design & Trials: Develop, optimize, and execute trial mixes to achieve specified target strengths (e.g., M25, M30) and workability parameters. [1, 2]
- Production & Batching Control: Monitor daily batching plant operations, ensuring exact water-cement ratios and accurate aggregate-to-cement proportions. [1, 2]
- Fresh & Hardened Concrete Testing: Conduct routine quality checks such as slump tests, temperature measurements, and casting/testing of concrete cubes for compressive strength. [1, 2]
- Equipment Calibration:
Oversee regular calibration schedules for plant weigh batchers, moisture probes, water meters, and laboratory compression testing machines. [1, 2]
- Non-Conformance & Compliance: Handle rejections, investigate root causes for low strength or slump loss, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and enforce corrective actions. [1]
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain daily pour registers, cube test registers (7-day and 28-day), and material traceability logs.
- Issue batch certificates, compliance reports, and audit-ready documentation for clients and structural consultants. [1, 2, 3]
Core Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of standard testing procedures, concrete technology, and local/international building codes (IS 456, IS 1199, IS 516, or ASTM/BS equivalents)
