Roof Maintenance
1. Roof Maintenance • Inspect roof sheets for cracks, rust, or displacement. • Replace damaged or corroded sheets. • Seal joints and overlaps to prevent leakage. • Ensure proper slope for water drainage.
2. Rainwater Gutter Cleaning & Preventive Maintenance • Remove leaves, debris, and blockages from gutters. • Check for cracks, leaks, or sagging sections. • Secure loose brackets and supports. • Apply preventive measures (mesh covers, filters).
3. Rainwater Spout Cleaning • Clear spouts of debris and obstructions. • Ensure smooth discharge of rainwater. • Repair or replace damaged spouts.
4. Rainwater Down-take Pipe Cleaning • Inspect down-take pipes for blockages. • Flush pipes with water or cleaning tools. • Repair leaks or replace damaged sections. • Ensure proper connection to drainage system.
5. Roof Sheet Maintenance • Clean roof sheets to remove dust, moss, or algae. • Apply protective coatings against corrosion. • Replace broken or missing fasteners. • Ensure sheets are securely fixed and aligned.
Mandatory Safety Practices
1. Crawling Board Usage o Crawling boards must be properly placed and shifted as required to ensure safe movement on roof sheets. o Boards should be inspected for strength and stability before use.
2. Lifeline & Safety Belt o Workers must always wear lifeline safety belts/harnesses while working on roofs. o Belts must be securely anchored to fixed points to prevent falls.
3. Medical Fitness o Only medically fit personnel are permitted to carry out roof maintenance tasks. o Periodic medical checks should be documented to confirm fitness for working at heights.
General Responsibilities Site Preparation & Safety
• Barricade work areas and place warning signs.
• Use PPE (helmets, gloves, boots, harnesses for roof work).
• Ensure safe access to roof areas (ladders, scaffolding). Execution & Quality
• Perform cleaning and maintenance as per approved methods.
• Maintain proper water flow through gutters, spouts, and pipes.
• Ensure no damage to roof structure or drainage system. Material & Equipment Handling
• Use appropriate tools (brushes, jetting machines, safety ropes).
• Maintain equipment in valuable working condition.
• Safely transport and dispose of debris. Coordination & Reporting
• Coordinate with supervisors for daily work allocation.
• Report damages, leaks, or unusual findings immediately.
• Maintain records of cleaning and preventive maintenance. Helpdesk Closure Points
• All drain cleaning tasks (open drains, closed drains, culverts, spouts, grills, preventive maintenance) must be raised in the helpdesk system with a unique ticket ID and clear description of the issue.
• The drain cleaning team completes the assigned work as per scope and updates the helpdesk ticket with progress notes (e.g., “Closed drain flushed,” “Saucer drain cleared,” “Grill cleaned”).
• Supervisor inspects the completed work for proper water flow, cleanliness, and safety. Any defects or incomplete cleaning must be rectified before approval.
• Once verified, the helpdesk ticket is closed with completion remarks, date/time of completion, and supervisor sign-off. Preventive maintenance activities should also be logged and closed for accountability.
