SEWING TRAINEE – JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Production – Sewing
Designation: Sewing Trainee
Reports To: Sewing Supervisor / Line In-Charge / Production Manager
Location: Manufacturing Unit

1. Job Purpose

To undergo training in garment sewing operations and develop the required skills to operate sewing machines, follow production standards, maintain quality, and achieve assigned production targets safely and efficiently.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Learn and perform basic sewing operations as per production requirements.
- Operate sewing machines under the guidance of the Supervisor/Trainer.
- Understand different sewing machines, attachments, and basic machine functions.
- Follow the specified operation sequence and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain required production speed and achieve daily production targets.
- Check garments/components for basic quality defects during the sewing process.
- Follow approved quality standards, work instructions, and specifications.
- Maintain proper handling of garments, components, and materials to avoid damage.
- Keep the workstation clean, organized, and free from unnecessary materials.
- Follow all safety instructions and use personal protective equipment wherever required.
- Report machine problems, quality issues, material shortages, and other abnormalities to the Supervisor.
- Maintain proper discipline, attendance, punctuality, and workplace behaviour.
- Cooperate with team members and support smooth line production.




- Attend all training and skill-development programs assigned by the company.
- Perform other production-related duties assigned by the Supervisor/Production Manager.

3. Skills & Competencies

- Basic interest in garment manufacturing and sewing operations.
- Willingness to learn sewing machine operations.
- Good hand-eye coordination and concentration.
- Ability to follow instructions and standard procedures.
- Quality-conscious and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work as part of a production team.
- Good discipline and punctuality.
- Willingness to work in a production environment and meet assigned targets.

4. Qualification & Experience

Qualification: Minimum 8th / 10th / 12th standard or equivalent, as per company requirements.
Experience: Freshers can be considered. Previous experience in garment sewing will be an added advantage.
