About the Rolen

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Accounts Head / Accounts Manager to lead the finance and accounting function for our growing multi-location retail business.

n

The role will be responsible for managing end-to-end accounting operations, including balance sheet finalisation, store sales and collection reconciliation, BRS, ledger scrutiny, statutory compliance, MIS reporting, financial controls, and team management.

n

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in accounting and financial operations, preferably within a retail, multi-store, FMCG, distribution, or other multi-location business environment.

Key Responsibilities1. Financial Accounting & Finalisationn

n
- Lead the complete accounting function and ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
n
- Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of books of accounts.
n
- Lead balance sheet finalisation and ensure accuracy of all financial records.
n
- Review and ensure the integrity of the General Ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
n
- Identify accounting discrepancies and ensure timely corrective action.
n
- Coordinate with auditors for statutory and financial audits.
n

2. Retail & Store Accountingnn
- Oversee daily reconciliation of store sales, collections, cash, card, UPI, online payments, and other modes of collection.
n
- Monitor accounting entries and financial transactions across multiple retail locations.
n
- Ensure timely reconciliation of store-level transactions with bank and accounting records.
n
- Review discrepancies in sales, collections, refunds, discounts, and other store transactions.
n
- Strengthen processes for accurate and timely store accounting.
n

3. Bank & Ledger Reconciliationnn
- Review and approve Bank Reconciliation Statements (BRS).
n




- Ensure timely reconciliation of bank, cash, customer, vendor, and other ledger accounts.
n
- Monitor outstanding items and ensure appropriate follow-up and closure.
n
- Conduct periodic ledger scrutiny and ensure accurate classification of transactions.
n

4. Accounts Payable & Receivablenn
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations.
n
- Monitor vendor invoices, payments, outstanding balances, and ageing.
n
- Ensure timely customer/vendor reconciliation.
n
- Establish appropriate controls for payment processing and approvals.
n
- Monitor receivables and support timely collection and reconciliation.
n

5. MIS & Management Reportingnn
- Prepare and review monthly MIS and financial reports for management.
n
- Provide management with accurate financial insights and analysis.
n
- Track revenue, expenses, margins, receivables, payables, and other key financial indicators.
n
- Support management in financial decision-making through timely and accurate reporting.
n

6. Budgeting & Financial Planningnn
- Drive budgeting and forecasting activities.
n
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and identify significant variances.
n
- Provide variance analysis and recommendations to management.
n
- Support business teams in financial planning and cost optimisation.
n

7. Taxation & Statutory Compliancenn
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance with applicable statutory and taxation requirements.
n
- Oversee GST, TDS, income tax, and other applicable regulatory compliances.
n
- Coordinate with tax consultants, auditors, and statutory authorities wherever required.
n
- Maintain proper documentation and records for statutory requirements.
n
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and financial regulations.
n

8. Internal Controls & Auditnn
- Develop and strengthen financial controls across stores and Head Office.
n
- Identify financial and operational risks and implement appropriate control mechanisms.
n
- Support internal and external audits.
n
- Ensure audit observations are addressed within defined timelines.
n
- Establish processes to minimise financial leakage, errors, and control gaps.
n

9. Team Managementnn
- Lead, manage, and mentor the accounts team.
n
- Define responsibilities, processes, and performance standards for team members.
n




- Review the team's work and ensure accuracy and timely completion of deliverables.
n
- Build a culture of accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement.
n
- Provide guidance and support to team members on complex accounting matters.
n

Required Skills & Competenciesnn
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting and bookkeeping.
n
- Expertise in BRS and ledger reconciliation.
n
- Strong understanding of retail/store accounting.
n
- Experience in managing accounts for multi-location businesses.
n
- Knowledge of GST, TDS, taxation, and statutory compliance.
n
- Strong understanding of General Ledger, AP, AR, and financial reporting.
n
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
n
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
n
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
n
- Experience with Tally, SAP, ERP, or other accounting software.
n
- Strong team management and leadership skills.
n
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
n
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the complete finance function.

Qualificationsn

UG:

- B.Com / B.Com (Finance)
n
- BBA / BMS (Finance)
n
- Any relevant Graduate degree
n

PG / Professional Qualification:

n

- M.Com / MBA/PGDM – Finance
n
- CA Inter / CA preferred
n
- Equivalent professional qualification in Finance & Accounting will also be considered.
n

Experiencenn
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in Finance & Accounting.
n
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a managerial / team leadership role preferred.
n
- Experience in retail, FMCG, distribution, e-commerce, hospitality, or other multi-location businesses will be an advantage.
n
