We are looking for a Senior Manager Horticulture to lead and manage horticulture plantation activities at the KG KKD site. The role will be responsible for plantation planning, maintenance, irrigation management, pest and disease control, horticulture trials, budgeting, and overall upkeep of plantation areas.
The incumbent will work closely with the HOD and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective plantation management, operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with established standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, execute, and oversee the plantation and maintenance of various horticultural species across designated areas.
Prepare annual and periodic calendars of operations for plantations and obtain necessary approvals from the HOD.
Develop Scopes of Work (SOWs) for plantation maintenance activities in consultation with the HOD.
Prepare budget estimates and ensure timely submission of input requirements for procurement.
Monitor plantations for diseases and pests and implement timely control and preventive measures.
Ensure proper maintenance and functioning of drip irrigation systems across plantation areas.
Conduct R&D; trials on various horticultural inputs and evaluate their effectiveness.
Manage harvesting and disposal of horticultural produce as required.
Maintain prescribed records and prepare and submit MIS reports on plantation and horticulture activities.
Ensure the safety and upkeep of plantations, horticultural produce, installations, and contractor manpower.
Coordinate with contractors and other stakeholders to ensure timely and effective execution of horticulture activities.
Skills & Competencies
Solid knowledge and practical experience in modern horticulture practices and plantation management.
Positive understanding of plantation maintenance, irrigation systems, pest and disease management, and horticultural inputs.
Computer proficiency with working knowledge of CAD software.
Strong communication and coordination skills.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to manage contractors and field activities.
Positive planning, problem-solving, and execution skills.
Education & Experience
M.Sc. in Horticulture or M.Sc. in Agriculture from a recognized institution.
Minimum 08 years of relevant experience in horticulture and plantation management.
Experience in managing large-scale plantation and horticulture activities will be an added advantage.
