Designation: Senior Resident - Paediatric Cardiology
Reports to: Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist / Head of Department
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and manage infantschildren and adolescents with congenital and acquired heart diseases.
Conduct detailed cardiovascular assessmentformulate diagnoses and develop treatment plans.
Manage common congenital heart diseasescyanotic heart diseaseheart failurearrhythmias and paediatric cardiac emergencies.
Perform and interpret ECGschest X-rays and other basic cardiac investigations.
Assist in and perform echocardiography under appropriate supervisionincluding 2DDoppler and colour Doppler studies.
Assist in transcatheter interventions such as device closuresballoon valvuloplasty and other catheter-based proceduresas applicable.
Participate in pre- and post-operative management of children undergoing congenital heart surgery.
Manage patients in the paediatric cardiac ICU and high-dependency areas.
Recognise and manage acute deteriorationcyanotic spellsarrhythmias and cardiac failure.
Participate in inpatient roundsOPD servicesemergency duties and on-call responsibilities.
Counsel parents/guardians regarding diagnosistreatment optionsprognosis and follow-up.
Maintain accurate clinical recordsprocedure notes and discharge summaries.
Participate in academic activitiescase discussionsteachingaudits and clinical research.
Supervise and guide junior residents and other clinical trainees.
