Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to take full ownership of the organisation's accounting, financial reporting, and statutory compliance. This is not just a books-maintenance role. We require someone who understands the numbers, can connect the dots, and brings the finance team and management the right information at the right time — whether that is a spike in costs, a dip in collections, or a gap between budget and actuals.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Controls
Take full ownership of day-to-day accounting — ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and on time
Review the work of the junior accountant and ensure quality and correctness across all entries
Handle month-end and year-end closing — including accruals, provisions, prepaid adjustments, and ledger clean-up
Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure correct depreciation accounting
Ensure all transactions are correctly mapped to the right cost centres and heads of account
Perform and review bank, general ledger, vendor, and customer reconciliations regularly




Maintain all financial records and supporting documents in a well-organised manner, audit-ready at all times

Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process and ensure vendor payments are made accurately and on time
Review and approve vendor invoices, payment requests, and ensure the correct approvals are in place before any payment goes out
Ensure proper matching of purchase orders, goods receipt, and invoices before processing payments
Review vendor aging reports regularly and manage escalations on overdue items
Maintain healthy vendor relationships and handle any payment disputes or reconciliation differences
Plan AP cash outflows and coordinate with the Finance Manager on payment scheduling
Review and sign off on vendor reconciliation statements on a periodic basis

Financial Reporting & MIS
Prepare monthly Profit & Loss statements, Balanc
