QA Engineer — Roles & Responsibilities
A QA Engineer (Quality Assurance Engineer) is responsible for implementing the organization's quality procedures at the material, production, assembly, packing, and installation stages, identifying defects, maintaining quality records, and driving corrective actions.
Quality Inspection & Process Control
Perform inspections according to approved quality procedures and checklists.
Monitor quality at each critical manufacturing stage.
Verify that work is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and standards.
Identify defects at the earliest possible stage.
Ensure non-conforming work is controlled and not passed to the next process.
Incoming Material Inspection
Inspect materials such as:
MDF/HDF/plywood/particle board
Laminates and veneers
Edge bands
Hardware and fittings
Adhesives
Glass and accessories
Paints/finishes
Packaging materials
Verify quantity, dimensions, specifications, colour, finish, and physical condition.
Record incoming inspection results.
Identify and segregate rejected materials.
Coordinate with Stores and Purchase for supplier-related issues.
In-Process Quality Inspection
Monitor key processes such as:
Cutting → CNC → Edge Banding → Drilling → Assembly → Finishing
Check:
Dimensions and tolerances
Cutting accuracy
CNC machining
Edge-banding quality
Hole positions
Joint quality
Surface finish
Assembly accuracy
Hardware installation
Alignment and functionality
Final Inspection
Before packing/dispatch, verify:
Overall dimensions
Appearance and finish
Colour and material
Door and drawer operation
Hardware and accessories
Alignment and gaps
Surface defects
Edge quality
Cleanliness
Quantity and identification
Packing condition
Release products for packing/dispatch only after required quality checks are completed.
