Job Description

Job Purpose

- Oversee and manage operations across all West Coast import ports (Kandla, Dahej, Tuna and Mundra) handling UltraTech's imported cargo.

- Ensure effective monitoring of inventory, ageing, and vessel-wise quantity and quality reconciliations.

- Drive timely evacuation of materials from ports while minimizing operational losses and ensuring productive cargo movement.

Job Context & Major Challenges

This role is responsible for end-to-end monitoring and governance of imported cargo at West Coast ports, including storage management, quantity and quality assurance, cargo ageing, vessel-wise reconciliations, transit loss monitoring, and timely evacuation. The position serves as a key coordination interface among ports, plants, inspection agencies, and logistics partners to ensure accurate inventory reporting, operational efficiency, and uninterrupted supply chain operations.

Major Challenges

- Managing seamless communication and coordination among multiple stakeholders, including UltraTech plants, port operators, inspection agencies, and stevedoring partners, to ensure timely information flow and alignment.

- Ensuring adequate vessel-wise storage availability at ports while optimizing yard utilization and preventing operational bottlenecks.

- Driving timely and accurate quantity and quality assessments through effective coordination with ports and inspection agencies, while preventing cargo contamination during storage, handling, and inter-carting operations.

- Monitoring cargo ageing, inventory movements, and vessel-wise reconciliations to ensure accurate stock accounting and minimize operational variances.

- Optimizing rake selection, loading efficiency, and rail evacuation planning to minimize dead freight, reduce transit losses, and ensure cost-effective movement of coal and petcoke to consuming units.

Key Result Areas

Support for Customs Management Networking & Market intelligence Complaints Handling:

a. Co-ordination with stevedore for custom clearance of the vessel if need be.

b.Daily report to be generated capturing qualtity lifted by each unit.

Capture import prices of competitors

d. Handleport related issues like storage, contamination, moisture etc.

Liaison (ports, stevedores, shipping lines, inspection agencies, transporters, sealing agencies, securityandCPC)

a. Engagewith Inspection agency for quality analysis

b. Monitoring the receipts based on contract

c. Co-ordination for vessel nomination

d.Vessel freight related information

e. Daily meeting with Transporters for proper Loading of material to avoid/ reduce transit shortage, and lifting of cargo on timely basis to avoid the storage charges.

f. Day to day discussion with plants & addressing their specific issues with port, if any.

g.Co-ordination with the Port related to payment, documentation, collection of DDs and indent placement and planning etc.

h. Co-ordinationwith the Port for rakeplacement. i.Timely intercarting of coal by Port for rake loading and co-ordinate with railway siding persons j.Documentation after rake loading, (RR,FNR, Indent Numbers

Vessel toVessel reconciliation

a. Maintain inspection reports during discharge of cargoes.

b. Maintain inspection reports during lifting of cargoes.

c. Keep track of vessel wise lifting and balance on dry to dry basis.

d.Coordinate with units and prepare vessel to vessel reconciliation within 15days for lifting of full cargo from port.

e.Efforts to be made that 100% cargo is evacuated from the plot before Dry to Dry reconciliation,

f. Fresh cargo to be stored on separate plot.

Minimise Operational Loses

a.Minimise dead freight in rail movement

b. Minimise fuel shortages in road & rail movement

c. Ensure that all corners of wagon are filled properly.

d. Ensure trucks are loaded appropriately

Cargo Movement

a.



Ensure fuel movement from ports to plants on FIFO basis

b. Identify excess and shortages and timely reporting.

c. Ensure that seals are placed on trucks appropriately.

d. In case of complain of high moisture, ensure that vehicles are detained at port so that water drainout to the extent possible

e. Deviations informed by units at discharge point should be communicated with other units lifting from same pile, to verify if similar problems are observed at other units and also be more vigilant during sampling process.

i. Check if GPS is deployed in trucks asper contract.

Monitoring of Cargo

a. Monitor and report fuel stocks at port

b. Identify excess or shortages in piles.

c. Ensure that no contamination happens during storage

d. Monitoring water spraying by ports is only for dust suppression and taking necessary actions in case of excessive spraying.

Storage of Cargo

a. Coordinating with port for shifting of cargo at designated place allotted by Port authority within stipulated time frame.

b. Ensuring single plot for each vessel.

c. It is to be ensured that plot should be clean and should not contain any other material (LowGCVmaterial).

d. To ensure material like Ironore etc. should not be mixed with Fuel.

e.Conveying to CPC about port space congestions if any.

f. Plot to be checked on regular interval and ensuring proper stacking, chalk marking and tarpaulin covering to avoid any contamination of foreign material.

Discharge of Cargo

a. Keeping track of thevessel from load port till discharge of the vessel and keeping all stakeholders in loop regarding vessel status at various stages

b.Coordinating with port for timely discharge of cargo

c. Ensuring presence of third party agency during discharge for quantity and quality assessment.

d. Witness discharge of Shipment and ensure that entire material is shifted to allocated plot

Insurance Survery

a. co-ordinating with insurance surveyor

b. co -orinating with inspection agency for cargo measurement and claim settlement in case of loss of cargo
