We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager – Backend to lead a high-performing backend engineering organization in Bengaluru. This role combines technical leadership, people management, architecture, and product execution , with responsibility for building scalable APIs, services, and web technologies that support business-critical experiences.

The ideal candidate will be a strong hands-on technology leader who can guide a team of engineers and managers, drive engineering excellence, and translate business and product objectives into reliable, scalable technology solutions.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage a backend engineering organization comprising engineers and engineering managers .
- Provide technical leadership for the design and development of scalable APIs, backend services, and web applications.
- Architect technically robust, flexible, highly available, and scalable solutions for large-scale systems.
- Build, scale, and maintain microservices-based architectures .
- Establish engineering best practices covering code quality, development standards, testing, debugging, performance, and optimization.
- Remain hands-on when required and provide technical guidance on complex engineering challenges.
- Lead and mentor engineering managers and individual contributors, creating clear career paths and development opportunities.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide continuous, constructive feedback.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Designers, and other stakeholders to estimate, prioritize, plan, and deliver projects.




- Partner with Business Development and Operations teams to deliver scalable and reliable technology solutions.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, performance bottlenecks, and opportunities for architectural improvement.
- Drive effective debugging, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and production issue resolution.
- Operate effectively in a rapidly evolving environment with changing priorities and cross-team dependencies.
- Ensure engineering teams consistently deliver high-quality solutions with speed, reliability, and maintainability.

What Makes You a Outstanding Fit

- 10+ years of relevant software engineering experience , including significant experience in engineering leadership or management.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline .
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java and object-oriented software development .
- Proven experience building and scaling microservices and large-scale backend systems .
- Strong knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL databases , including MySQL and MongoDB.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Kafka, AWS, and ELK Stack .
- Strong understanding of cloud technologies and distributed systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance-optimization skills.
- Experience designing reliable, scalable, and maintainable backend architectures.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, code quality, testing, and development best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong people-management skills with experience developing engineers and engineering managers.
- Excellent stakeholder-management and communication skills.
- Strong sense of ownership with the ability to make decisions and drive outcomes in ambiguous environments.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality technology solutions in fast-paced, high-growth environments .
