Must Have Skills :
l Experience with risk adjustment coding (HCC),
outpatient or E&M; coding.
l Familiarity with tools like 3M, EPIC, or
Optum Encoder.
l Certified Professional Medical Auditor
(CPMA) is a strong plus.
Good to Have Skills :
l Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
in code assignment and documentation review.
l Robust analytical, critical thinking, and
problem-solving abilities.
l Effective written and verbal communication
skills for feedback and education.
l Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and
EHR/coding software.
l Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet
strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Roles and Responsibilities :
Ø Perform retrospective and prospective audits
on E&M; coded records to assess coding
accuracy and documentation compliance.
Ø Ensure correct assignment of ICD-10-CM, CPT,
and HCPCS codes according to official
coding guidelines and facility-specific
protocols.
Ø Identify coding trends, errors, and variances;
provide feedback to coding staff with
actionable recommendations.
Ø Collaborate with coders and clinical documentation
teams to resolve discrepancies and improve
documentation quality.
Ø Develop and deliver coder education and training
sessions based on audit findings and
coding updates.
Ø Maintain up-to-date knowledge of E&M; coding
guidelines, CMS changes, and payer
-specific rules.
Ø Participate in internal and external compliance
audits and respond to audit requests
as necessary.
Ø Generate audit reports and track coder
performance metrics.
Ø Work closely with compliance, billing, and
HIM teams to ensure revenue integrity
and regulatory adherence.
