Job Description – Legal Researcher

Role Overview

We are looking for a diligent and analytically strong Legal Researcher to assist the arguing counsel in preparation and conduct of legal matters. The role involves extensive research and review of case laws, FIRs, chargesheets, complaints, judgments, pleadings, evidence and other case-related documents, and preparing concise, well-structured case reports highlighting the key facts, legal issues, applicable provisions, precedents and strategic points relevant to the matter.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct extensive research on applicable case laws, statutes, rules, notifications and legal precedents.

Thoroughly examine FIRs, chargesheets, complaints, orders, judgments, evidence and other case records.

Identify and analyse the material facts, charges/offences, legal issues, contradictions, procedural lapses and evidentiary aspects of a case.

Prepare case briefs/research reports, chronology of events, issue-wise legal analysis and case-law compilations for the arguing counsel.

Identify relevant judgments, including favourable and adverse precedents, and summarise their ratio and applicability to the case.

Highlight the vital facts, legal propositions, weaknesses and possible arguments that may assist counsel during hearings.

Assist in preparing research notes, written submissions, arguments and other litigation-related material as required.

Maintain accurate citations, research records and confidentiality of all case-related information.

Skills & Specifications – Ideal Candidate

LL.B./LL.M.



with strong academic and research capabilities.

Prior experience in litigation, legal research or a law firm/chambers environment is preferred.

Excellent knowledge of Indian criminal law and procedure, particularly the IPC/BNS, CrPC/BNSS, Evidence Act/BSA, POCSO, NDPS, MCOC, POTA, and relevant special statutes.

Strong ability to read and analyse FIRs, chargesheets, judgments and voluminous case records.

Excellent case-law research and legal database skills (SCC Online, Manupatra, LiveLaw, Indian Kanoon or equivalent).

Robust analytical, logical and issue-spotting abilities.

Ability to distil large volumes of information into clear, concise and counsel-friendly reports.

Excellent written English, legal drafting and citation skills.

High attention to detail, particularly with dates, sections, facts, precedents and procedural history.

Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple matters simultaneously.

Confidentiality, integrity, diligence and a litigation-oriented mindset are essential.

A strong candidate should be curious, meticulous, proactive and commercially practical, with the ability to go beyond merely finding authorities and understand how a particular fact, precedent or procedural defect can be used effectively in court.

Pay: Up to ₹5,000.00 per month
