Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Dispatch Coordinator to support and coordinate daily transportation operations within our logistics network. This role is responsible for booking freight, planning trucks, communicating with drivers, and ensuring pickups and deliveries are completed on time. The ideal candidate is organized, calm under pressure, and comfortable working in a fast-paced trucking environment where clear communication and solid follow-up are essential.

The Dispatch Coordinator plays a key role in keeping drivers moving, maintaining service levels, and supporting overall operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate daily dispatch activities for company drivers and owner-operators
- Book freight with brokers and customers and assign loads to available equipment
- Plan routes and schedules to meet pickup and delivery deadlines
- Communicate with drivers regularly regarding load details, ETAs, delays, and instructions
- Schedule and confirm pickup and delivery appointments with shippers and receivers
- Track shipments using dispatch systems, spreadsheets, or transportation management tools
- Provide timely updates to customers and internal teams as needed
- Coordinate special requirements such as tarping, securement, escorts, or after-hours delivery




- Maintain accurate records of loads, freight details, and delivery documentation
- Collect PODs and ensure paperwork is completed and submitted on time
- Assist in troubleshooting dispatch or delivery issues to minimize service disruptions
- Work closely with the Dispatch & Operations Manager to improve truck utilization and efficiency
- Ensure dispatch activities comply with company policies and safety standards

Qualifications & Skills

- Previous experience in trucking dispatch, logistics coordination, or transportation operations preferred
- Strong understanding of freight movement, shipping & receiving, and dispatch workflows
- Comfortable working with drivers, brokers, and customers on a daily basis
- Strong communication skills with professional phone etiquette and clear written follow-up
- Good data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with transportation management systems, dispatch software, or similar tools is an asset
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to handle time-sensitive issues calmly
