STAFF NURSE – JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Nursing
Position: Staff Nurse
Reporting To: Nursing Supervisor / Nursing In-Charge / Nursing Manager
Location: Mahi Hospitals
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Purpose

To provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to patients, support doctors and the multidisciplinary healthcare team, and ensure high standards of patient safety, infection control, documentation, and clinical care.

Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care

- Assess patients and monitor their health condition regularly.
- Provide nursing care according to the patient's condition and treatment plan.
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, pain, and other relevant observations.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and within the nurse's scope of practice.
- Assist doctors during procedures, examinations, and treatments.
- Ensure patients receive timely and appropriate nursing interventions.
- Provide emotional support and maintain patient dignity and privacy.

2. Medication & Treatment

- Administer medications safely according to hospital protocols and physician orders.
- Verify medication, dosage, route, timing, and patient identity before administration.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and report abnormalities promptly.
- Maintain proper medication records and documentation.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of medications.

3. Patient Monitoring & Safety

- Identify changes in the patient's condition and immediately inform the doctor or nursing supervisor.
- Follow patient identification and fall-prevention procedures.
- Maintain patient safety during transfers, procedures, and routine care.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and participate in emergency care as trained.
- Follow hospital protocols for high-risk patients and clinical incidents.

4. Infection Prevention & Control

- Follow hand-hygiene and standard infection-control practices.




- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain aseptic technique during procedures.
- Follow biomedical waste segregation and disposal procedures.
- Support infection-prevention audits and hospital quality initiatives.

5. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation.
- Record vital signs, medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient responses.
- Complete nursing notes, care plans, checklists, and other required records.
- Participate in shift handovers and communicate relevant patient information clearly.
- Report incidents, medication errors, and changes in patient condition according to hospital policy.

6. Doctor & Team Coordination

- Coordinate effectively with doctors, nursing supervisors, technicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Prepare patients for investigations, procedures, surgery, and discharge.
- Coordinate with diagnostic and support departments when required.
- Ensure continuity of care during shift changes and patient transfers.

7. Patient & Attendant Communication

- Explain routine nursing procedures and care instructions to patients and attendants within the nurse's role.
- Provide discharge and medication-related instructions as directed by the treating team.
- Address patient concerns professionally and escalate unresolved issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.

8. Ward & Equipment Management

- Ensure nursing equipment is clean, functional, and available for patient care.




- Check emergency equipment and supplies according to departmental protocols.
- Maintain adequate stock of essential nursing supplies.
- Report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment immediately.

Qualifications

- B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing / GNM or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Valid nursing registration as required by applicable regulations.
- Previous hospital experience is preferred.
- Freshers may be considered for suitable positions based on hospital requirements.

- Maintain professional ethics and respectful communication.
- Participate in continuing education, training, drills, audits, and quality-improvement activities.
- Report clinical risks, incidents, and patient-safety concerns promptly.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
