Job Description – Duty Officer

Position: Duty Officer
Department: Cinema Operations
Location: PVR INOX Cinemas
Reporting To: Duty Manager / Cinema Manager

Role Purpose

The Duty Officer is responsible for supporting the smooth day-to-day operations of the cinema during the assigned shift. The role involves supervising frontline employees, ensuring operational and show readiness, maintaining high standards of guest service, monitoring cleanliness and grooming, and promptly addressing operational issues.

Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Cinema Operations

- Ensure smooth functioning of cinema operations during the assigned shift.
- Conduct regular floor rounds and monitor all operational areas.
- Ensure auditoriums, lobbies, box office, F&B; counters, washrooms, and other guest areas are clean, functional, and ready for business.
- Monitor show readiness before the commencement of each show.
- Coordinate with the Engineering and Housekeeping teams for timely resolution of operational issues.
- Escalate critical operational concerns to the Duty Manager or Cinema Manager.

2. Team Supervision

- Supervise Service Associates and other frontline team members during the shift.
- Allocate manpower based on business requirements and operational priorities.
- Conduct shift briefings and communicate daily targets, offers, operational updates, and safety instructions.
- Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, grooming, discipline, and adherence to company SOPs.
- Provide on-the-job guidance and support to team members.

3. Guest Experience

- Ensure guests receive prompt, courteous, and professional service.
- Address guest queries and complaints and provide timely resolution.
- Escalate major guest concerns to the Duty Manager where required.
- Monitor service standards and ensure a positive guest experience throughout the cinema.

4. Operational Monitoring





- Ensure all assigned areas are adequately staffed and operationally ready.
- Monitor queue management at the Box Office, F&B; counters, and entry points.
- Ensure timely replenishment of operational and consumable supplies.
- Monitor cleanliness, hygiene, and maintenance standards across the cinema.
- Report any equipment malfunction, maintenance requirement, or safety concern immediately.

5. Cash, Inventory & Compliance

- Support the Duty Manager in ensuring compliance with cash handling and billing procedures.
- Monitor adherence to company SOPs and operational controls.
- Assist in inventory checks and stock monitoring whenever required.
- Ensure employees follow all policies related to discounts, refunds, complimentary tickets, and other transactions.

6. Safety & Security

- Ensure emergency exits and guest pathways remain clear at all times.
- Follow all fire and life safety procedures.
- Assist in handling emergencies, guest incidents, and evacuation situations as per company SOPs.
- Immediately report safety or security concerns to the Duty Manager/Cinema Manager.

7. Reporting & Shift Handover

- Maintain proper records of operational issues, incidents, and actions taken.
- Provide clear shift handover regarding pending tasks and concerns.
- Prepare operational reports as required by the management.
- Follow up on assigned issues until closure or proper escalation.

Educational Qualification

- Graduate or Diploma holder in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a relevant field.
- Candidates with relevant experience in hospitality, retail, entertainment, aviation, or customer service will be preferred.

Experience

- 1–3 years of relevant experience in operations, hospitality, retail, entertainment, or customer service.
- Experience in supervising a frontline team will be an added advantage.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Ability to handle guest complaints professionally.
- Solid observation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office and reporting.
- Ability to work rotational shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- High level of ownership, discipline, and accountability.

Working Conditions

- The position requires working in rotational shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- The Duty Officer is expected to maintain an active presence on the cinema floor and ensure smooth coordination between teams.
- The role may require handling multiple operational priorities and guest concerns simultaneously.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹21,000.00 per month
