Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Production Manager with a strong Mechanical Engineering background and hands-on knowledge of fabrication and sheet metal manufacturing processes. The candidate will be responsible for supporting production planning, monitoring shop-floor activities, ensuring quality and productivity, and coordinating with fabrication, assembly, stores, purchase, and quality teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist the Production Manager in planning and executing daily production activities.
- Monitor production targets, manpower utilization, machine performance, and productivity.
- Strongly supervise fabrication and sheet metal production activities.
- Ensure proper execution of cutting, bending, welding, drilling, grinding, and other fabrication processes.
- Read and understand mechanical drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOMs.
- Ensure correct material usage as per drawings and specifications.
- Monitor sheet metal operations including cutting, bending, forming, welding, and assembly.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Stores, Purchase, QA/QC, Maintenance, and Assembly teams.
- Maintain production schedules and ensure timely completion of orders.
- Monitor product quality and minimize rejection, rework, and material wastage.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of production machinery, tools,



jigs, and fixtures.
- Train and guide production operators and technicians.
- Maintain daily production reports, rejection reports, and productivity records.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures and 5S standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and reduce production costs.

Mandatory Skills

- Strong fabrication knowledge – Mandatory
- Good sheet metal manufacturing knowledge – Mandatory
- Strong Mechanical Engineering background
- Hands-on knowledge of welding and fabrication processes.
- Knowledge of sheet metal cutting, bending, drilling, grinding, and assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical/fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of production planning and shop-floor management.
- Good understanding of quality control and inspection procedures.
- Experience in manpower handling and team supervision.
- Valuable problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Basic knowledge of ERP / production reporting systems is an added advantage.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in machinery manufacturing, agricultural equipment manufacturing, industrial fabrication, sheet metal fabrication, CNC/laser cutting, press brake operations, welding, and machine assembly will be preferred.
