Job Description – Quality & Laboratory Executive/Engineer

Position: Quality & Lab Engineer / Executive

Reports To: Quality Manager / Plant Head

Job Purpose

Responsible for quality inspection, laboratory testing, quality documentation, certificates, and compliance activities for PTFE components. Ensure that incoming raw materials, in-process products, and finished components meet customer specifications, drawings, internal standards, and applicable quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Inspection

* Inspect incoming PTFE raw materials, compounds, fillers, and other materials.

* Conduct in-process and final inspection of PTFE components as per drawings and specifications.

* Check dimensions using vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauges, and other measuring instruments.

* Verify visual appearance, surface finish, defects, and workmanship.

* Maintain inspection records and communicate non-conformities to the concerned department.

2. Laboratory Testing

* Perform or coordinate testing of PTFE materials and components as per applicable specifications.

* Typical tests may include:

• Density/specific gravity

• Hardness

• Tensile strength

• Elongation

• Compression properties

• Dimensional stability

• Filler/content verification, where applicable

• Other customer- or product-specific tests

* Maintain laboratory test records and ensure proper identification and traceability of samples.

* Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated and maintained.

3. Quality Certificates and Documentation





* Prepare and issue Certificate of Analysis (COA) and Certificate of Conformance (COC) as required.

* Prepare inspection reports, test certificates, material certificates, and customer-specific quality documents.

* Maintain batch-wise traceability of raw materials and finished products.

* Review test results before releasing products for dispatch.

* Maintain proper records for audits and customer requirements.

4. Quality Management System

* Follow company quality procedures and work instructions.

* Support implementation of ISO/QMS requirements.

* Participate in internal, customer, and third-party audits.

* Assist in root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for quality issues.

* Monitor customer complaints and support investigation and closure.

5. Calibration and Laboratory Control

* Maintain calibration records for measuring and testing equipment.

* Ensure instruments are used within their calibration validity.

* Coordinate external calibration whenever required.

* Maintain laboratory housekeeping, safety, and testing procedures.

Required Qualifications

* Diploma/B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical, Chemical, Polymer, Production, or a related engineering field.

* Experience in PTFE/plastic/polymer components, precision components,



or manufacturing quality will be preferred.

* Knowledge of engineering drawings, dimensional inspection, and basic material testing.

* Knowledge of ISO 9001/QMS requirements is desirable.

Required Skills

* Good knowledge of inspection and testing methods.

* Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.

* Good documentation and report-writing skills.

* Knowledge of MS Excel and basic computer applications.

* Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.

* Good communication and coordination skills.

Experience

Preferred: 2–5 years in quality, testing, or laboratory activities in a manufacturing setting.

Freshers with relevant technical qualifications may be considered for junior positions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

* Accuracy and timely completion of inspection reports.

* Correctness and timely issuance of COA/COC.

* Reduction in customer complaints and internal rejection.

* Calibration compliance.

* Batch traceability and documentation accuracy.

* Timely closure of non-conformities and corrective actions.

* Compliance with quality and laboratory procedures.

Authority

* Hold or recommend rejection of material/product that does not meet specified requirements.

* Stop or escalate production/dispatch in case of critical quality non-conformance.

* Release finished products after required inspection and test results are verified.
