Role Summary
Designs and implements the FPGA-accelerated sensor ingestion and pre-processing pipeline on the Zynq UltraScale+ SoC that feeds the edge AI detection pipeline, and works hands-on with AMS engineers to transfer this capability.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement high-speed sensor interface ingestion (EO/IR, radar) on Zynq UltraScale+ programmable logic
• Build FPGA-accelerated pre-processing pipelines to prepare sensor data for downstream CNN inference
• Optimize programmable logic resource usage to meet the sub-50ms end-to-end latency target
• Integrate ARM processing system (Kalman filter tracking) with FPGA fabric pipeline via appropriate interconnects
• Co-develop with AMS embedded engineers as part of the talent transfer program (Sec 5.1 of master proposal)
• Document architecture and hand off source code/deployment scripts per the knowledge transfer program (Sec 5.3)
Required Technical Skills
• Solid hands-on experience with Xilinx/AMD Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC architecture (PS + PL)
• FPGA design in VHDL/Verilog and/or high-level synthesis (Vitis/Vivado toolchain)
• Experience with high-speed sensor interfaces (camera/EO-IR, radar data ingestion)
• Familiarity with real-time, deterministic embedded system design under strict latency budgets
• Working knowledge of ARM Cortex-A/R embedded software integration
Required Experience
5+ years embedded/FPGA systems engineering, with prior work on Zynq or comparable MPSoC platforms; defense, aerospace, or ADAS/embedded-vision project experience strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience on defense or export-controlled embedded programs
• Familiarity with quantized/pruned neural network deployment on FPGA fabric
• Experience mentoring or transferring technical capability to a client engineering team
