We are looking for an experienced Zonal Credit Manager – South Zone to lead credit risk, underwriting, and portfolio quality across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. Based in Hyderabad, this role will be responsible for maintaining strong underwriting standards, ensuring effective credit governance, monitoring portfolio performance, and leading a team of credit professionals.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in NBFC or banking credit and underwriting, strong regional portfolio-management capabilities, and the ability to balance business growth with disciplined risk management.

Key Responsibilities

- Own credit risk and underwriting across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six credit professionals.
- Establish and maintain strong underwriting standards across the zone.
- Monitor portfolio quality, credit performance, delinquency trends, and emerging risks.
- Identify portfolio-level risks and drive timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Partner closely with Sales, Collections, Operations, and Business teams to balance growth objectives with credit discipline.
- Review and evaluate complex or high-value credit proposals and provide appropriate recommendations.
- Conduct regular branch and dealer credit audits to ensure adherence to policies and processes.
- Ensure compliance with established credit policies, risk controls, and regulatory requirements.




- Identify gaps in underwriting practices and recommend improvements to strengthen portfolio quality.
- Provide zonal market and portfolio insights to contribute to national credit policy and strategy.
- Track key credit metrics and prepare regular reports for senior management.
- Drive consistency, accountability, and best practices across credit teams and locations.

What Makes You a Great Fit
- 12+ years of experience in credit, underwriting, risk management, or related functions within an NBFC or banking environment.
- Strong experience managing credit portfolios across multiple states or a large regional territory.
- Proven expertise in credit assessment, underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and risk mitigation.
- Experience leading and mentoring credit teams with responsibility for performance and outcomes.
- Strong understanding of credit policies, risk controls, compliance, and audit processes.
- Demonstrated ability to balance business growth with portfolio quality and credit discipline.
- Experience conducting branch, dealer, or portfolio-level credit audits.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to identify emerging credit risks.
- Excellent stakeholder-management and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Sales, Collections, Operations, and senior leadership.
- Strong understanding of regional markets across AP, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
- Proficiency in Telugu and/or Tamil will be an advantage.
- A proactive leadership style with strong ownership, integrity, and commercial judgment.
