Job Title : Software Asset Management Analyst

We are looking for a Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst with hands-on experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management (ITAM), software license management and ITSM operations. The role will be responsible for managing day-to-day SAM operations and the software asset lifecycle, including software onboarding, software cataloguing, software model normalization, license entitlement management, license tracking, deployment monitoring, license reconciliation and software compliance.

The candidate will work closely with Service Desk, IT Operations, SAM, Application Deployment, Procurement, Finance and Compliance teams to manage software requests, licensing requirements and software deployment activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage daily Software Asset Management (SAM) operations and software asset lifecycle activities.
- Handle and track software requests and ITSM tickets, ensuring requests are processed within defined SLAs.
- Follow software request approval workflows and validate business justification and required information.
- Coordinate with users, Service Desk, SAM and Application Deployment teams for software requests, licensing and application installation.
- Maintain accurate software catalogues, software models, publisher records and license entitlement information.
- Perform software onboarding and software model normalization to maintain standardized and accurate software records.
- Track software licenses, entitlements, installations, deployments and utilization using ServiceNow SAM Pro.
- Perform license reconciliation and Effective License Position (ELP) activities to determine software license compliance.
- Use ServiceNow CMDB and Discovery to identify installed software and maintain accurate configuration and software inventory data.
- Monitor software deployments and identify over-deployment, under-licensing and software license compliance risks.
- Support software license audits,



vendor audits and audit readiness by maintaining licensing records, entitlement information and supporting documentation.
- Prepare license compliance reports, software asset reports and dashboards using ServiceNow Reporting and Microsoft Excel.
- Identify and escalate software licensing, compliance and operational issues to the relevant stakeholders.
- Support software license governance, compliance and license optimization activities to minimize audit and financial risks.
- Maintain accurate SAM, ITAM and CMDB records and ensure proper documentation and audit trails.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support software deployment, license management and IT asset governance.
- Follow established ITSM and ITIL processes, including request management, SLA management and escalation procedures.

Requirements

- 1–3 years of experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), Software License Management or IT Asset Lifecycle Management.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow SAM Pro is preferred.
- Good understanding of software licensing, license entitlements, license compliance and software governance.
- Experience with software onboarding, software cataloguing, software model normalization and license reconciliation.
- Knowledge of Effective License Position (ELP), software audits and audit readiness.
- Experience working with ServiceNow ITSM, CMDB and Discovery.
- Understanding of ITSM ticket management, service requests, SLA management and escalation processes.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables, for license tracking and compliance reporting.
- Valuable communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate with Service Desk, IT Operations, Procurement, Compliance and Deployment teams.
- Knowledge of ITIL / ITIL 4 is an added advantage.
- Exposure to ServiceNow Reporting, Power BI or ITAM dashboards is an added advantage.
- Exposure to Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and broader IT asset lifecycle management will be an advantage.
