Seeking a Software Engineer with experience of 4 to 10 Years in Android, Embedded Linux, medical devices, or other safety-critical software environments. The role involves designing and developing software applications, treatment workflows, alarm management, device communication, and connectivity features for next-generation medical devices. The ideal candidate will have solid expertise in Java, Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, Linux-based systems, device communication, and a solid understanding of IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and medical device software development.
This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, regulatory-compliant software while mentoring engineers and driving software quality, architecture, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain clinical software features including HMI UI, Treatment Session Manager, Workflow Engine, State Machine, Alarm Manager, Clinical Dashboards, and Reporting.
- Design and develop Android applications using Kotlin, Java, Jetpack Compose, MVVM, SQLite, and Android SDK.
- Design and implement device communication frameworks supporting CAN, UART, Telemetry, and Therapy Controller communication.
- Participate in software architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, and technical decision-making activities across the software platform.
- Lead FMEA participation for software subsystems, driving hazard analysis inputs, risk control definitions, and verification traceability in accordance with ISO 14971.
- Establish and enforce coding standards, static analysis policies, software design guidelines, and review checklists across the team.
- Support IEC 62304 software lifecycle activities including software planning, requirements traceability,
risk management, verification, validation, and design documentation.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Firmware, Hardware, Cybersecurity, and V&V; teams to deliver robust and compliant product features.
- Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, technical coaching, architecture discussions, and code quality initiatives.
- Support regulatory submissions by producing high-quality design documentation and responding to technical queries from Regulatory Affairs and Quality teams.
- Drive root cause investigations and resolution of software defects, customer issues, field complaints, and CAPA-related activities.
- Contribute to connectivity, interoperability, and digital health initiatives including remote monitoring, HL7/FHIR integration, telemetry, and cloud-connected solutions.
- Continuously improve software quality through automated testing, static analysis, architecture governance, and engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Embedded Systems or an equivalent engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of software development experience with Android, Embedded Linux, Medical Devices, or other safety-critical software platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience in Java, Kotlin, and/or C++ application development.
- Experience developing Android applications using Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, MVVM, SQLite/Room, and modern Android architecture patterns.
- Experience working with Linux-based systems and device communication technologies including UART, CAN, TCP/IP, and telemetry frameworks.
- Strong understanding of software architecture concepts including State Machine Design, Workflow Engine Design, Alarm Framework Design, Event-Driven Architecture, and Clean Architecture principles.
- Experience designing and implementing clinical workflows, treatment management applications, alarm handling systems, and device communication services.
- Experience integrating software with embedded controllers and medical device hardware through standardized communication interfaces.
- Experience with software quality tools and practices including SonarQube, Coverity, static analysis tools, unit testing frameworks, integration testing, and automation frameworks.
- Working knowledge of software development best practices including object-oriented programming, design patterns, coding standards, code reviews, source control management using Git, and Agile development methodologies.
- Experience of DevOps, Software Automation, HIL/SIL Testing, Release Management, and modern software delivery practices
- Experience working within regulated development environments and applying IEC 62304, ISO 13485, Medical Device SDLC, Risk Management, Requirements Traceability, Verification & Validation, and design control processes.
- Experience participating in software architecture reviews, design reviews, FMEA activities, hazard analysis, CAPA investigations, and regulatory documentation activities
