– Deputy Manager – Electrical – Pellet Plant 2

Role Purpose

To manage electrical maintenance and reliability activities for Pellet Plant 2 (PP2), ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems. The role will focus on preventive and breakdown maintenance, equipment reliability, shutdown execution, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance & Reliability

- Manage day-to-day electrical maintenance activities for Pellet Plant 2.

- Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment.

- Ensure high availability and reliability of HT/LT electrical systems and critical plant equipment.

- Monitor and maintain HT/LT switchgear, transformers, MCCs, PCCs, motors, VFDs, soft starters, UPS, battery systems, and electrical distribution systems.

- Analyse recurring electrical failures and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

- Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.

Plant Electrical Systems

- Monitor the health and performance of electrical distribution systems across PP2.

- Ensure proper functioning of protection systems, circuit breakers, relays, busbars, cables, and associated equipment.

- Maintain electrical systems associated with balling discs, conveyors, crushers, screens, fans, pumps, compressors, material handling systems, and other critical equipment.

- Ensure proper maintenance of motors, drives, panels, cables, and electrical accessories.

- Coordinate with C&I;/Automation teams for electrical-control-related issues.

Shutdown & Maintenance Planning

- Plan and execute electrical maintenance activities during planned and major plant shutdowns.

- Prepare manpower, tools, spares, and equipment requirements for shutdown activities.





- Monitor shutdown progress and ensure timely completion and restoration of equipment.

- Review post-shutdown performance and identify improvement opportunities.

Troubleshooting & Improvement

- Lead troubleshooting of critical electrical equipment and minimize plant downtime.

- Monitor electrical equipment health through condition monitoring and testing.

- Drive initiatives for improvement in equipment availability, reliability, and energy efficiency.

- Identify opportunities for standardization, automation, and technology upgrades.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure strict compliance with electrical safety procedures, PTW, LOTO, and statutory requirements.

- Conduct regular electrical safety inspections and ensure timely closure of observations.

- Ensure secure isolation, testing, and energization of electrical equipment.

- Promote safe working practices among employees and contractors.

Contractor & Team Management

- Supervise engineers, technicians, electricians, and contract manpower.

- Plan manpower deployment and monitor productivity and work quality.

- Coordinate with electrical contractors for maintenance and project-related activities.

- Provide technical guidance and develop the team's electrical maintenance capabilities.

Spares & Cost Management

- Identify and maintain adequate stock of critical electrical spares.

- Coordinate with Purchase and Stores for timely availability of spares and consumables.

- Support preparation and monitoring of maintenance budgets.

- Drive cost optimization through preventive maintenance, refurbishment, standardization, and alternate sourcing.





Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain equipment history, maintenance records, electrical drawings, checklists, and SOPs.

- Monitor maintenance KPIs and prepare periodic MIS reports.

- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and compliance requirements.

Educational Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.

- Diploma in Electrical Engineering with substantial relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

- 10–15 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance in Pellet Plants, Integrated Steel Plants, Power Plants, Cement Plants, or other continuous-process industries.

- Experience in Pellet Plant electrical maintenance will be strongly preferred.

- Hands-on experience with HT/LT systems, motors, drives, MCC/PCC, transformers, and industrial power distribution is essential.
