Role Purpose
To execute and monitor civil engineering activities for Pellet Plant 2 (PP2), ensuring timely and quality-compliant execution of civil and structural works. The role will be responsible for site execution, contractor management, quality control, quantity estimation, project coordination, and adherence to safety and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Civil Project Execution
- Execute and monitor civil works for Pellet Plant 2, including foundations, buildings, structures, equipment foundations, roads, drainage, and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure execution as per approved drawings, specifications, BOQs, method statements, and project schedules.
- Plan daily, weekly, and monthly site activities in line with project milestones.
- Monitor physical progress and identify delays, constraints, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, C&I;, Engineering, Procurement, and Operations teams for interface management.
Construction & Structural Works
- Supervise execution of RCC, structural foundations, equipment foundations, piling, flooring, trenches, drains, roads, and other civil works.
- Monitor reinforcement, shuttering, concreting, grouting, waterproofing, and finishing activities.
- Ensure proper execution of foundation and structural works based on equipment load and approved engineering drawings.
- Coordinate survey and setting-out activities to ensure dimensional and elevation accuracy.
- Review civil and structural drawings and resolve site-level technical issues in coordination with Engineering.
Quality Control
- Ensure compliance with approved Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), specifications, and applicable standards.
- Monitor quality of concrete, reinforcement, structural works, construction materials,
and workmanship.
- Coordinate material testing and inspection activities.
- Ensure proper documentation of test reports, inspection requests, checklists, and quality records.
- Identify deviations and ensure timely corrective action.
Contractor & Resource Management
- Manage civil contractors and monitor manpower, equipment, productivity, and work quality.
- Ensure optimum utilization of construction resources.
- Review contractor work methods and ensure adherence to approved procedures.
- Verify measurements and support certification of contractor bills.
- Coordinate with contractors to resolve execution-related issues and maintain project timelines.
Project Planning & Cost Control
- Prepare and monitor project execution schedules and work plans.
- Track quantities, material consumption, productivity, and project progress.
- Support preparation/review of BOQs, estimates, quantity calculations, and variation statements.
- Monitor project costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Ensure timely availability of construction materials and resources in coordination with Procurement and Stores.
Safety
- Ensure strict compliance with project and plant safety requirements.
- Monitor implementation of PTW, work-at-height, excavation, lifting, confined space, electrical safety, and other critical safety controls.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and ensure timely closure of observations.
- Ensure contractors comply with all applicable safety standards and PPE requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Maintain drawings, BOQs,
measurement records, inspection reports, test certificates, and other project documentation.
- Monitor project milestones and provide regular updates to management.
- Support preparation of as-built drawings and project handover documentation.
Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
- Diploma in Civil Engineering with substantial relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
AM: 6–10 years of relevant experience
DM: 10–15 years of relevant experience
- Experience in steel plants, pellet plants, iron ore beneficiation plants, power plants, heavy industrial projects, or large infrastructure projects will be preferred.
- Robust experience in industrial civil construction and contractor management is essential.
- Exposure to equipment foundations and heavy industrial structures will be an added advantage.
