Responsibilities

Client-Facing Delivery and Advisory

- Act as senior actuary and trusted adviser to client(s) on treaty pricing, portfolio profitability and reinsurance structuring.
- Price and review casualty and specialty treaty business - excess of loss, quota share and structured covers - including layer pricing, reinstatements, sliding-scale and profit commissions, loss corridors, aggregate deductibles and limits, indexation/stability clauses, and ECO/XPL considerations.
- Lead technical discussions with Chief Actuaries, CUOs, underwriters and brokers; present and defend assumptions, methodology and results to boards, reinsurance committees and regulators.
- Translate technical output into commercial recommendations - pricing adequacy, risk-adjusted rate change, structure optimisation, retention and limit strategy.
- Support clients through renewal cycles including submission review, data diagnostics, benchmark analysis and post-renewal portfolio reporting.
- Own engagement quality: scoping, methodology, documentation standards and adherence to professional and regulatory expectations.

Capability and Service Development

- Define and help in growing Xceedance’s reinsurance pricing propositions — identifying where we can create differentiated value for reinsurers/brokers globally, and turning that into productised, repeatable service lines.
- Build and industrialise the toolkit: exposure and experience rating frameworks, ILF and exposure curve libraries, frequency-severity and aggregate loss models, trend and on-levelling approaches, and benchmarking datasets.
- Partner with our data, technology and AI teams to embed automation and analytics into pricing workflows — reducing cycle time and improving consistency across engagements.
- Commercial Growth and Client Development




- Support sales and account leadership shaping propositions, contributing to RFP and pitch responses, scoping engagements and pricing our own services.
- Grow existing accounts by identifying adjacent needs across pricing, reserving, capital and portfolio analytics.
- Own commercial accountability for your book: revenue, utilisation, margin and client satisfaction.

People Leadership and Talent Development

- Lead, coach and grow a distributed team of actuaries, analysts and students in the team.
- Set the technical bar and build reinsurance pricing depth in the wider team through structured training, casework, review cycles and knowledge assets.
- Help in building an inclusive, high-performance culture with clear feedback, visible career paths and robust retention of specialist talent.

Qualifications

- Qualified actuary — Fellow of the IFoA, CAS (FCAS) or Institute of Actuaries of India, or equivalent recognised body, in good standing.
- 8 to 12 years’ reinsurance pricing experience, with demonstrable depth in (preferred):
- Casualty treaty — excess liability/umbrella, commercial and personal auto liability, general liability, professional and financial lines, workers’ compensation or motor bodily injury.
- Specialty treaty — energy (upstream/downstream, physical damage and BI), surety and credit, and/or marine, aviation, construction, political risk, terror or cyber.
- London Market and/or Bermuda reinsurance experience — gained at a reinsurer,



Lloyd’s syndicate, broker (analytics/reinsurance advisory) or consultancy, with genuine familiarity with market practice, submission quality, broker dynamics and the renewal calendar.
- Strong command of core pricing technique: exposure rating and curve selection, experience rating and development to ultimate, loss trend and on-levelling, frequency-severity modelling, aggregate distributions, credibility weighting, and treatment of large and latent claims.
- Proven client-facing track record — owning senior relationships, presenting to executive and board audiences, and handling technical challenge with credibility.
- Demonstrated project and engagement management capability: multiple concurrent workstreams, distributed teams, tight renewal deadlines, clear commercial and quality accountability.
- Genuine people leadership experience — building, developing and retaining actuarial teams, not just directing task delivery.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication; able to make complex actuarial reasoning land with underwriters, executives and non-technical stakeholders.
