Counterpoint is a fast-growing global analyst firm. Our research supports leading companies across the technology ecosystem worldwide. As part of our continued growth in India, we are establishing a new legal entity and are seeking an experienced Senior Finance & Accounting professional to take full ownership of finance and accounting for this new entity, working in close collaboration with our existing India Finance Operations Associate and our global Management Support Team (Korea HQ).
This is a independent role suited to someone who can build and run a finance & accounting function end-to-end.
:
The Senior Finance & Accounting Lead will be responsible for the finance and accounting function of the India entity, including setting up initial statutory registrations, establishing accounting processes and internal controls, and managing ongoing finance operations, reporting, and compliance. This person will work closely and collaboratively with the team — sharing knowledge, aligning processes across the entities, and providing guidance where needed — rather than operating in isolation. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, sound independent judgment, and the maturity to manage sensitive financial and compliance matters in a fast-paced global environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of finance and accounting for the India entity, from initial setup through ongoing operations
- Support and follow through on statutory registration and onboarding requirements for the India entity (e.g. PAN/TAN, GST registration, bank account opening, initial books of accounts), coordinating with legal/company secretarial advisors as needed
- Establish sound accounting processes, documentation practices, and internal controls appropriate for the India entity
- Lead month-end and quarter-end closing,
and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to HQ for the new entity
- Ensure full compliance with Indian statutory and regulatory requirements, including GST, TDS, Companies Act filings, ROC compliance, and other applicable tax and labor regulations
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax consultants, and statutory authorities for the new entity, including coordinating the first-year statutory audit
- Collaborate closely with the existing India Finance Operations Associate to align processes, share knowledge, and ensure consistency and smooth coordination across both entities
- Support intercompany transactions and transfer pricing documentation between the new entity and other group entities, in coordination with HQ finance team
- Prepare and review financial reports and provide financial analysis and insights to India and HQ management
- Act as a key finance business partner to Sales and other departments on billing, payment, and customer-related matters
- Identify and drive process improvements and automation opportunities as the new entity's finance function matures
- Maintain accurate financial records in internal systems
- Perform other finance and administrative duties as required
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (professional qualification such as CA/CMA/CPA is a plus, but not required)
- Minimum 7–8 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles in India, including direct experience with Indian statutory compliance (GST,
TDS, Companies Act, ROC filings)
- Prior experience in a multinational company, shared services center, or professional/research services industry strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience independently managing the full finance operations cycle: AR/AP, invoicing, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Experience directly liaising with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work closely and constructively with peer staff across entities, rather than in a purely top-down capacity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate confidently and clearly with overseas HQ management
- Solid Microsoft Office skills, especially advanced Excel (familiarity with Power Query or similar tools is a plus)
- High degree of ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Interest in technology markets is preferred
Reporting Line:
This role reports functionally to the Management Support Team (Korea HQ), with close day-to-day coordination with India entity leadership. The role will have one direct report, the India Finance Operations Associate, and will be responsible for providing day-to-day guidance, work allocation, and performance oversight, while maintaining close collaboration with the broader India and global finance team.
Location:
Mumbai / Gurgaon
