Primary Years Programme (PYP) CoordinatorPosition Summary The PYP Coordinator provides strategic and instructional leadership for the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of the school's primary curriculum, with a focus on inquiry-based, concept-driven, student-centred learning.
The ideal candidate will have experience in IB PYP or another established international curriculum, such as Cambridge Primary, British Curriculum, International Primary Curriculum (IPC), or a comparable international education framework.
Candidates without direct IB PYP experience may also be considered if they demonstrate strong experience in curriculum leadership, instructional coaching, teacher development, inquiry-based learning, curriculum planning, assessment, and whole-school academic improvement.
The Coordinator will work closely with teachers and school leadership to strengthen teaching and learning, support career development, promote student agency, and ensure high-quality curriculum implementation.
Key Responsibilities1. Curriculum & Programme Leadership
- Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the primary curriculum.
- For an IB school, support the effective implementation and development of the IB PYP framework.
- Coordinate and review curriculum planning, mapping, progression, and documentation across primary grades.
- Ensure strong vertical and horizontal articulation of learning.
- Promote inquiry-based, concept-driven, transdisciplinary, and student-centred learning.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of curriculum implementation across grade levels.
- Support alignment between curriculum, school vision, mission, and educational goals.
- Promote student agency, international-mindedness, collaboration, and holistic development.
2. Teaching, Learning & Instructional Leadership
- Guide teachers in developing effective learning experiences that promote inquiry, conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and student engagement.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive, developmental feedback.
- Support teachers in differentiation, formative assessment, student agency, and inclusive teaching practices.
- Facilitate collaborative planning and professional learning communities.
- Identify areas for improvement in teaching and learning and implement appropriate interventions.
- Encourage reflective practice, innovation, action research, and evidence-informed teaching.
3. Teacher Coaching & Professional Development
- Mentor and coach teachers to strengthen instructional practices.
- Plan and facilitate professional development programmes based on identified staff needs.
- Conduct induction and orientation for new teachers.
- Organize workshops, demonstration lessons, peer observations, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Support teachers in developing effective assessment and feedback practices.
- Build teacher capacity in inquiry-based and concept-based approaches.
- Monitor the impact of professional development on classroom practice and student learning.
4. Assessment & Student Progress
- Support the development and implementation of effective assessment practices.
- Ensure appropriate use of formative and summative assessment.
- Facilitate moderation and collaborative review of student work.
- Support teachers in analysing student learning data and using evidence to improve instruction.
- Monitor student progress and identify areas requiring additional academic support.
- Promote assessment practices that encourage reflection, learner ownership, and continuous improvement.
5. International Curriculum / IB Alignment
- Ensure curriculum and teaching practices reflect the requirements of the school's chosen international curriculum.
- For IB schools, support compliance with relevant IB standards, practices, and programme requirements.
- Maintain appropriate curriculum documentation and evidence.
- Support IB authorization, evaluation, programme development, and review processes where applicable.
- Act as a key liaison with the IB organization where required.
- Stay current with developments in international education and curriculum frameworks.
6. Collaboration & School Improvement
- Work closely with the Principal, Head of Primary, academic leadership, teachers, and specialist staff.
- Participate in strategic planning and whole-school improvement initiatives.
- Promote collaboration between classroom and specialist teachers.
- Support interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning.
- Contribute to the development and review of academic policies and procedures.
- Use data, observations, feedback, and evidence to identify opportunities for improvement.
7. Parent & Community Engagement
- Conduct parent orientation sessions and curriculum-related workshops.
- Communicate curriculum objectives, teaching approaches, and learning expectations to parents.
- Help parents understand inquiry-based and international education approaches.
- Promote awareness of student agency, learner attributes, and holistic development.
- Build positive partnerships between the school, teachers, students, and families.
8. Student Development
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Support initiatives that develop student leadership, agency, independence, collaboration, and responsibility.
- Encourage academic, social, emotional, and intercultural development.
- Promote opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning and demonstrate action.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Master's degree in Education or a relevant discipline is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in a primary/international school environment.
- Experience in IB PYP, Cambridge Primary, British Curriculum, IPC, or another recognised international curriculum will be considered.
- Experience in curriculum coordination, academic leadership, instructional coaching, or teacher development is highly desirable.
- IB PYP training/certification is preferred but not mandatory for candidates with strong relevant international curriculum experience.

- Full-time academic leadership position.

Note:
IB PYP experience is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates with strong experience in international curricula and primary academic leadership may be considered where their skills are transferable to the PYP environment. The school may provide appropriate IB/PYP professional development to a strong candidate transitioning from another international curriculum.
Pay: ₹80,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
