Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Purchase Head to lead the procurement and vendor management functions of our manufacturing plant. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality sourcing of raw materials, components, consumables, and services.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in procurement, vendor development, negotiation, and supply chain management within the heavy engineering and manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement Leadership

Lead the Purchase Department to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing.

Develop procurement strategies aligned with production and business goals.

Drive cost reduction initiatives and improve procurement efficiency.

Vendor Development & Management

Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors and suppliers.

Negotiate contracts for competitive pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.





Build long-term vendor relationships and develop alternate sources to reduce supply chain risks.

Material Planning & Coordination

Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and consumables.

Coordinate with Production, Stores, and Dispatch for material requirements.

Monitor procurement schedules to avoid delays in manufacturing operations.

Compliance & Documentation

Ensure adherence to company procurement policies and SOPs.

Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and vendor agreements.

Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Inventory & Cost Control

Work closely with Stores to maintain optimum inventory levels.

Minimize excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.

Monitor procurement costs and support financial efficiency initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead and mentor the purchase team.

Establish explicit responsibilities, accountability, and performance expectations.

Promote discipline, teamwork, and a high-performance culture.

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong expertise in procurement and vendor development.

Excellent negotiation and commercial skills.

Knowledge of supply chain management and inventory control.

Experience in heavy engineering and manufacturing procurement.

Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making abilities.

Ability to manage multiple vendors and procurement categories.
