Job Purpose
Responsible for end-to-end plant procurement activities to ensure timely availability of materials, spares, packaging materials and plant services at optimum cost and required quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage procurement of plant maintenance, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and utility materials.
- Handle procurement of PPE, safety equipment and packaging materials.
- Manage shutdown, preventive maintenance and breakdown procurement.
- Obtain RFQs, prepare comparative statements and negotiate price, payment terms, MOQ and delivery schedules.
- Identify, develop, qualify and evaluate vendors.
- Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure timely delivery.
- Develop alternate/local suppliers for critical materials and lead-time reduction.
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Stores, QA, EHS and Finance.
- Monitor open POs,
pending deliveries, critical spares and material shortages.
- Handle vendor quality issues, rejection, shortage and replacement.
- Support cost reduction, strategic sourcing, rate contracts and supplier consolidation.
- Maintain procurement MIS covering spend, savings, pending POs, delivery and vendor performance.
- Maintain documents as per audit requirements.
- Ensure procurement complies with company procedures, specifications, quality and EHS requirements.
Candidate Profile
Candidate should have solid hands-on plant procurement experience, preferably from a Chemical, Pharmaceutical or Food manufacturing environment, with good knowledge of engineering spares, utilities, vendor management, commercial negotiation and emergency/breakdown procurement.
