Role Description The Post Doc Fellow in Machine Learning will work on-site in Chennai, contributing to advanced research projects at the intersection of machine learning and physics. Daily responsibilities include designing and executing experiments, developing and validating machine learning models, performing quantitative data analysis, and documenting research outcomes for publication in high-quality journals and conferences. The fellow will collaborate with faculty members, research staff, and students, participate in seminars and research meetings, and may support teaching-related activities such as mentoring graduate students and assisting in lab or tutorial sessions.
The position involves staying current with recent developments in machine learning and related fields, writing grant proposals or technical reports when required, and contributing to the broader research objectives of the institution.
Qualifications
- Robust research skills, including formulating hypotheses, designing experiments, and publishing in peer-reviewed venues.
- Laboratory skills relevant to experimental or computational physics and machine learning workflows.
- Solid background in Physics and related quantitative disciplines.
- Proficiency in Data Analysis, including statistical methods, model evaluation, and handling large datasets.
- Teaching and mentoring abilities to guide students in research and coursework.
- Expertise in machine learning techniques and frameworks (e.g., Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn).
- PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent research experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Prior experience in applying machine learning to scientific or engineering problems is highly beneficial.
