Role Description The Physical Design Engineer role is a full time, hybrid position based in Bengaluru, with flexibility for partial work from home. In this role, the engineer will focus on implementing and optimizing digital logic designs at the block and chip level, including floorplanning, placement, clock tree synthesis, routing, and timing closure. Day-to-day responsibilities may involve collaborating with front-end design teams, performing static timing analysis, power and area optimization, and running physical verification checks such as DRC and LVS.
The engineer will also contribute to design methodology improvements, script and flow development, and cross-functional reviews to ensure that physical design meets performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
Regular communication with global teams, clear documentation of design decisions, and proactive issue resolution are integral to this role.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of physical design concepts such as floorplanning, placement, clock tree synthesis, routing, and timing closure for complex digital ICs.
- Experience with EDA tools for physical design and analysis (for example, tools from Cadence, Synopsys, or equivalent) and familiarity with static timing analysis and power optimization workflows.
- Understanding of physical verification processes, including DRC, LVS, and EM/IR analysis, and ability to work with foundry design rules.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming (such as Python, Perl, or TCL) to automate design flows, improve productivity, and enhance design methodologies.
- Solid grasp of digital design fundamentals, VLSI concepts, and basic knowledge of RTL design and integration.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, VLSI, or a closely related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional, multicultural teams.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to learn and adapt to evolving technologies and processes.
