Role Description The Medical Coder (Trainer) will deliver high-quality training to learners on medical coding concepts, standards, and best practices in alignment with AI-supported healthcare education. This part-time, remote role involves preparing and updating training materials, designing lesson plans, and conducting virtual classes, workshops, and mentoring sessions. The trainer will explain coding guidelines, medical terminology, and documentation requirements, and provide practical exercises to strengthen learners’ coding proficiency.

Day-to-day responsibilities include evaluating learner performance, giving constructive feedback, answering questions,



and collaborating with the curriculum team to continually improve course content. The role also requires staying current with industry coding standards and regulations to ensure training materials remain accurate and relevant.

Qualifications

- Coding expertise, including hands-on Medical Coding and general Coding Experience applied to healthcare records.
- Formal credentials such as RHIT and education or practical experience in Health Information Management.
- Solid knowledge of Medical Terminology and clinical documentation used in healthcare settings.
- Experience teaching, mentoring, or training others in medical coding or related health information disciplines.
- Familiarity with coding standards and guidelines (e.g., ICD, CPT, HCPCS) and compliance requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse learners.
- Comfort with remote work, virtual training platforms, and basic digital tools for content delivery and learner management.
- Relevant certification in medical coding or health information (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent) preferred.
