Hirely is recruiting on behalf of a hiring partner for a remote Mathematics PhD / Computational Mathematics Researcher opportunity supporting a scientific AI benchmark with leading AI research organizations.

Contributors will use advanced mathematical and scientific computing expertise to create challenging, executable research problems designed to evaluate the capabilities of frontier AI models.

What You’ll Do:

- Create original, executable mathematical and scientific computing problems.
- Develop challenging prompts based on research papers, datasets, open-source projects, or original scenarios.
- Build detailed grading criteria that define correct solutions and expected outputs.
- Test and calibrate problems against frontier AI models.
- Identify problems that expose weaknesses in advanced AI reasoning and scientific computing capabilities.
- Develop reproducible computational tasks using Python.
- Work through Git/GitHub and Docker-based workflows.
- Ensure all submitted tasks are mathematically rigorous, executable, and reproducible.

Who We’re Looking For:

- PhD or Master's degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following:
- Numerical Linear Algebra
- Computational Mechanics




- Computational Finance
- Solid Python skills for scientific and mathematical computing.
- Experience developing or working with computational research problems.
- Comfortable with Git/GitHub and Docker .
- Strong mathematical reasoning and technical writing skills.
- Peer-reviewed publications are preferred.
- Scientific software or research engineering experience is a plus.

Compensation & Time Commitment:

- $70/hour
- 20+ hours per week
- 6-week project
- Part-time, fully remote
- Independent contractor opportunity
- Immediate start
