Role & responsibilities
1. Surface Preparation Inspection - Verify abrasive blasting, mechanical cleaning, degreasing & surface cleanliness as per approved specification.
2. Surface Profile Verification - Check surface profile/anchor pattern using calibrated instruments & ensure compliance with specified limits.
3. Environmental Condition Monitoring - Record air temperature, steel temperature, relative humidity & dew point conditions before & during painting.
4. Paint Material Inspection - Verify paint type, batch number, shelf life, storage conditions & manufacturer's technical requirements
5. Paint Mixing & Application Control - Monitor mixing ratio, induction time, pot life, thinner addition and application methodology.
6. Coating Thickness Inspection - Verify surface condition and cleanliness before application of subsequent coating layers.
7. Visual Coating Inspection - Identify defects such as runs, sags, pinholes, holidays, blistering, cracking, poor adhesion, overs pray and uneven finish.
8. Inter-coat Inspection - Verify surface condition and cleanliness before application of subsequent coating layers.
9. Holiday/Porosity Testing - Conduct low or high voltage holiday testing where specified and ensure proper rectification of detected defects.
10. Adhesion & Other Coating Tests - Coordinate or perform adhesion, hardness, cure and other specified coating tests in accordance with the approved ITP/QAP.
11. Inspection Documentation - Maintain inspection reports, environmental records, DFT reports, calibration records, paint batch traceability and NCR/repair records.
12.
Final Coating Acceptance - Verify the completed coating system against drawings, specifications, ITP/QAP and applicable standards and provide final inspection clearance.
