: Data Governance Engineer

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Governance Engineer to establish, implement, and sustain enterprise-wide data governance frameworks across business and engineering functions. The role will focus on improving data quality, metadata management, data lineage, security, compliance, and governance automation to enable trusted and reliable data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Data Governance Framework

- Define and implement data governance policies, standards, processes, and controls across the data lifecycle.
- Establish governance operating models, roles, responsibilities, and accountability structures.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to enforce governance practices.

Data Quality Management

- Define data quality standards, KPIs, and monitoring mechanisms.
- Drive data quality improvement initiatives and remediation programs.
- Work with data owners and stewards to ensure consistent data quality across domains.

Metadata & Data Catalog Management

- Implement and maintain enterprise metadata repositories and data catalog solutions.
- Establish data lineage and traceability across source systems, data platforms, and reporting layers.
- Ensure accurate documentation and classification of enterprise data assets.

Data Security & Compliance

- Define data classification frameworks and access control mechanisms.
- Ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and privacy requirements.
- Support secure data sharing and retention policies.

Data Product Governance





- Define governance standards for data products covering ownership, quality, lineage, usability, and security.
- Establish certification and review processes for business-critical data products.

Governance Technology & Automation

- Implement governance controls within data platforms and engineering solutions.
- Drive automation of governance processes using up-to-date data governance tools.
- Monitor governance adoption and compliance through dashboards and reporting.

Required Skills
- Strong understanding of Data Governance, Data Management, and Data Quality frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Metadata Management and Data Catalog tools (Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview, Informatica, etc.).
- Knowledge of Data Lineage, Master Data Management (MDM), and Data Stewardship concepts.
- Experience in Data Security, Privacy, Access Management, and Compliance.
- Familiarity with Cloud Data Platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Strong SQL and data analysis skills.
- Experience in governance implementation within large-scale enterprise environments.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications in Data Governance, DAMA, CDMP, Azure Data Governance, or equivalent are preferred.
- Experience working in Automotive, Manufacturing, Mobility, or Engineering organizations is an added advantage.
