? We’re Hiring | Design Engineer – Electrical & Electronics
Planys Technologies is looking for a hands-on Design Engineer – Electrical & Electronics to join our engineering team and contribute to the development of advanced AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) and ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles).
This role is ideal for an engineer with 2–5 years of experience who enjoys building, testing, debugging, and improving real-world hardware systems. You will work closely with mechanical, software, and systems teams to develop and integrate defence-grade underwater platforms.
? Key Responsibilities
- Translate system requirements into electrical specifications and designs.
- Design and develop multilayer PCBs, including power, ESC, control, and communication boards.
- Develop schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
- Build prototypes and perform hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation.
- Work with communication protocols such as CAN, RS485, RS232, UART, I2C, SPI, and Ethernet.
- Support electrical architecture development, power distribution, sensor interfaces, and communication networks.
- Perform PCB assembly, SMD/SMT soldering, module integration, and functional testing.
- Support vehicle-level electrical assembly, harnessing, integration, and system validation.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and troubleshoot hardware failures during testing and field trials.
- Support EMI/EMC, thermal, endurance, and environmental testing.
- Maintain design traceability, revision control,
test reports, and technical documentation.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and fully tested electrical systems.
- Identify design issues and continuously improve designs based on test data and field feedback.
? Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in hardware design, prototyping, or system integration.
- Hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB design using Altium, KiCad, Eagle, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics.
- Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers such as ARM/AVR.
- Familiarity with grounding, shielding, and EMI/EMC design principles.
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and hardware debugging tools.
- Ability to perform SMD soldering and hardware bring-up.
- Knowledge of communication protocols used in robotics and embedded systems.
- Solid problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- A hands-on, ownership-driven approach to engineering and product development.
⭐ Good to Have
- Experience working on AUVs, ROVs, robotics, marine systems, or defence products.
- Exposure to underwater or harsh-environment electronics.
- Experience with EMI/EMC, environmental, thermal, or endurance testing.
- Experience with electrical harness design and system-level integration.
